Big fan of the trinidad, but have never tried the Cohiba Lancero. I do love the Cohiba Coronas Esp. though.
I love the true clean tobacco flavor of the Fundadores, the example of perfectly smooth tobacco. Its blasphamy to call the Fundy simple, but it almost makes me feel like they weren't going for an amazingly complex smoke but just simply the best tobacco quality. Full mouthwatering smoke and depth of flavor.
I'm interersted to taste Cohiba's version of a similar sized smoke. I'm sure the hint of Cohiba honey would be nice in this format.
Basically, if you haven't had either is a long time, which would you reach for first, or, are they just too different to compare? any Lancero opinions would be greatly apreciated, especially if you've tried and 04 box. Thanks in advance.

CE is essentially the Lancero cut in 2. Very similar taste profile. Both are plagued, and I mean plagued, with draw problems as mentioned in the previous post. I have stopped buying these by mail, now only by personal inspection.
too bad to hear about consistent draw problems. and smoke is worthless with a bad draw. Guess I'll stick with the Fundy, thanks guys.
Nothing more annoying that a bad draw. I mean you know the smoke is great, but you just can't get at it, very frustrating. 04 seems to be a better year, draw on all my 04 boxes have been perfect and the way it should be for a premium product. To me, draw problems are unacceptable with cigars. I'm glad to see Cuba taking steps to improve this, draw machines etc. but they must do more. . .a $450 box of Esplendidos is worth as much as a pack of Malboros is you can't draw 'em. A buddy of mine recently got a box of plugged Espendidos and could not smoke one of the cigars. Actually sat down one night and went through the box until we found a smokable one. . .there were about 20 partially smoked sticks i the ash tray. very poor showing indeed.

There is absolutly NO similarities between a Fundadore and a Lancero, other than being Cuban tobacco. Where the TF is at best medium bodied, the CL is full bodied. They are both creamy tasting but that is as far as any similarities go. IMHO, the Lancero is at least twice the smoke as the Trinni.
I have a cab of 50 from '90 that are almost gone now, buth the flavor and STRENGTH are still in full force.
Don' get me wrong I have several boxes of Trinnis, and I totally love them. But they are NOT a Lancero.

Come on. All this about triple fermentation is a total myth. Balderdash. The third fermentation supposedly took place when they let the tobacco sit in a barrel for a couple of weeks before rolling it. And that was a long time ago. Has not been done in many years.
I used to sell cars. It was always amusing when customers would actually pay big bucks for undercoating, paint protection and leather guard for their seats.
If ignorance is bliss .............. Why aren't there more happy people walking around?
You have a 50 cab of what from '90? Didn't know Lanceros came in a box of 50.

Diplomatic cabs have been in 50's and 100's for decades.

I agree with hetch...Used to be that they'd let the tobacco they'd roll into the Cohiba cigars sit in a barrel for a month or so...that was the triple fermentation myth. It's a crock of sh1t. That was like the first year they made the lanceros. But that hasn't been the case since about 1992.
This information came from someone that knows Cuba and Cuban cigars.. B.E.

The same told me a guy at the Robaina plantation, who is working very long in this business . "The triple fermentation is complete and absolute bulls*it" were his words. I think, I can believe him.
