I have tried many Cuban Robustos and im trying to figure out which is the best one. Is it Cohiba Robustos, Partagas D Serie 4, Bolivar Royal Corona, Montecristo Edmudo, Romeo Y Julieta short churchill?? Or even Roman Allones Specially Selected? What do you guys think? I like the Cohiba, but its a bit pricey. But regardless of price whats the best!!!!

THey can be good, but Cuban cigars vary from box to box, year to year. IMO all the robustos are damn good.

all of the cigars you mentioned are the best cc robustos. stick to which you prefer and don't let someone else opinion supersede yours.

personally i think it is hit or miss these days and your opinion will change based on the box.

"Cuban seed tobaccos grown in Nicaragua and Cuba. The wrapper would be from Cuba. The binder leaves would be from Nicaragua. For the ligero tobacco in the filler, he would use two types, one from Esteli and the other from Jalapa in Nicaragua. The other filler components, seco and viso, would come from Cuba, the former from Villa Clara, the latter from Pinar del Rio. That Cigar, he says with pride, would score 100 points."

But is the Cohiba Robustos twice as good as the Partagas D Serie 4?? It is almost twice the price. And if price is no factor which is better.

Yeah.
There are many good robustos. PSD4, JL2, Cohiba... They are all unique.

I have tried all the ones you list except the Cohiba. A box is on the way, so I guess I will see how it stacks up.

I just ordered a box from April 2007, after seeing the CA review. I hope they live up to their humble reputation.

Shadie, If you like Robustos so much you should get the Seleccion 5 pack and smoke one cigar every day, and then decide which one you like best.

I have a box of the Monti EL 2006 Robustos and they are great as well.

I had only 1 CoRo from a sampler, which I think was young. It was well constructed, but showed much aging promise. It was spicy that I needed to look for water (I enjoy this with cigars), espresso/nutty beginning, spicy middle, and solid finish. You won't be disappointed with your purchase. I wish that I have a box.

I can say that Cohiba robusto is one of my favorite of the Cohiba line. But not my favorite robusto. I dont have one. I love them all. Depends on my mood.

Bolivar Royal Coronas are always good right out of the box, and I really like St. Luis Rey Regios and Partagas SD4s as well. All are much more affordable than the Cohiba.

While you're at it, you may want to try an RyJ Ex. #4 and VR Famosos. Technically not robustos but close enough. The Hoyo Epi #2 is lighter but is also great.

All depends on time of the day, how full is my stomach and how much money I'm willing to spend. CoRo and BRC - after dinner, Monte Edmundo (technically not a robusto by CC standards, but close) and RASS - after lunch or light dinner, RyJ SC and Juan Lopez Sel#2 - with early afternoon coffee, HdM Epi#2 with morning coffee or tea.
Yes, CoRos are expensive and maybe not better as much as the monetary difference between other robustus is, but that doesn't mean I'll stop smoking them. Maybe I'll smoke them less frequently than PSD4 or HdM Epicure #2.

And yeah, I think CC robustos are for some reason great across the brands - all different but all awesome in their own way. I haven't smoked a CC robusto yet that I didn't like.

The Cohibas are good but I don't think they're worth the inflated price. PSD4's on the other hand are glorious if you don't mind the full strength of the tobacco. Bolivars are rich while the Short Churchills are sweet and flavorful and not as strong.

So it really depends on your tastes. I do like the Cohiba robustos but I'd rather spend my money on the corona especials or lanceros.

Steve
When I first opened a cab of the JL #2, to inspect, I could not help myself. I yanked one and lit it on the spot. I have never done that before, but they were just beautiful.

I was really impressed with this smoke, especially for the money. Yes , they will get better with age, but based on how they tasted, are "unlikely" to gather any Wink

As others have stated...the CoRo is in my opinion the best I have tried...but the value presented by a PSD4 or a BRC is better. I have yet to try a few of the others like RASS or Vegas Famosos...but the silky smooth taste of a Cohiba is really hard to beat.
