Hello

This may sound like a rather naive question, but nevertheless genuine. There is ample room for discussion about Cuban cigars here, but these are not available to the United States otherwise than smuggled, so where are discussions going besides ''I got one and you dont ''. We have plenty of very high quality Cubans up here but talking about it would be either to spotlight my preferences or to make our reserve available, which is what my perception of this forum is all about. There is really more out there for genuine cigar lovers.

What is your opinion ?

Well, in a nutshell, many of the US members – despite the embargo – have access to Cuban cigars and enjoy discussing them. Although CCs are illegal in the US, it’s not like they were talking about heroin. In reality, there doesn’t seem to be any legal risks in posting about it on an Internet forum – heresay hardly constitutes solid evidence for the authorities, and those who have had legal whoes have had them through OFAC letters pertaining to credit card purchases. In short, talk is cheap (i.e. not worth much to press charges). The only rule is to not post sources.
Even in the pages CA, Cuban cigars have their place of choice and if there is a mystery surrounding how the staff gets their hands on CCs, it doesn’t seem to generate any problems whatsoever for the magazine. Authorities obviously have other priorities to pursue.
Furthermore, many members originate from other countries – Canada, UK, Australia… - where, of course, CCs are legal.
This said, what are you suggesting? Zaping the CC forum altogether?

What is he suggesting, who knows? So far his posts read as a random and pointless collection of ambiguous questions/statements, clear as mud.

My opinion is you probably need medication. Or maybe this is 007 after a dozen shaken not stirred martinis.

Fyi, you have to be genuine in order to be naive.

Quite. I was especially intrigued by this gem: "I'll second that remark and add freedom to the value of the Canadian dollar( The Soviet Union collapsed 20 years ago and the embargo on a tiny island lasts, to the disappointment of the nation )"

Still, I didn't want to be too quick to judge, and give him at least a chance to be somewhat coherent.

Steve: You obviously used an online translator, from English to German, and then back from German to English again.

Right?

Where are all these self-medicated people coming from? Did CA mag print an ad asking all the nut bars to join their on-line forum?

JB, no one has a clue what the ell you are talking about. My advice is too back off on the caffeinated beverages, write your thread topic in an email and send it to yourself. Does it make any sense? No, didn't think so.

Compared to the P80, it is almost impossible to get a box of these cigars. Every time I put a box on order, the sales rep emails me and says it's several weeks before they can send me a box. This game just keeps going on and on. So no P45 yet.

What? US members talk about them for the same reason you say you do, in order to "spotlight preferences". I don't see much "I got it, you don't" going on, considering most who post on the Cuban forum do have them. It's not like it's hard to get them. As fas as legal trouble, their haven't been OFAC fines recently to my knowledge. Plus, when you get a confiscation, you just get a letter that says "This is NOT a fine". Basically, it's kind of like marijuana was in the Netherlands as one point(don't know if it's still like this). It's technically illegal, but uninforced for the most part.

Steve, I know a vendor who may still have one in stock. He called me yesterday to see if I wanted it, but I already have a box. Drop me an email if you'd like his info.

Mike
