guys,

as my CC collection is getting legs, I have a question regarding RH % given that most of my favorite NC's smoke best at 70%RH and I read here that CC's like numbers closer to 63%

I only have the one humi big humi, but I have a little desk top that I can keep at ~60-65%, or just leave dry.

how long should I leave a CC in the desk top, before I smoke it assuming it was resting at 70%
before?

thanks

In my experience most CCs are good to smoke right out of 70%RH humidor, though a little less is much better. It is some NCs that are nearly unsmokable at 70% or even 65%. For dry-boxing such NCs - put in an empty cigar box with no humidification from several hours to one full day (depending on wrapper thickness)prior to smoking.
I don't think CCs need this though. Does anybody else have different experience?

I've always followed the instructions inside which say 68%-70% (I think). Take em out and light em up. I have not experimented at other humidity levels though.

I myself like the 68% - 70% as well. Since I have an oasis Ultra in my humi I keep it at 69% confirmed with my digital hygrometer.

My NC humidor is the same and a well constructed cigar smokes perfect... The only draw problems i've encountered were certain singles or 1 or 2 cigars from a box which was probably a construction issue...

For the longest time I maintained 68%-70% for both CCs and NCs, and as I became more experienced, I started noticing more issues. (swelling and burn issues mainly)

Thanks to the knowledge from these boards, I started keeping everything around 62%-63%, and am much happier with my cigars now.

I keep them all at 63-65% and they smoke great right out of the box.

68-70% is acceptable, sorta, but I agree with s-by-s that you will get occasional burn issues.

What he said. Since moving my humidor to the condo storage locker (55-60 degrees) I have found that the cigars burn very well right out of the humi. If I know I am going to smoke on a particular day I will grab the cigar early on and dry box it until I'm ready.

I have my humidor with 4 lbs of 65% beads and I smoke mine with no dryboxing. Very rarely do I encounter burn issues.

If you do drybox, don't do it for more than one day. 6 hours works.

I drybox some cigars,I found that a travel humi and 60% humidity beads are great for that.

thanks for all the tips.

The only real problem I had at 70% RH was with an Opus X Chateu (sp?) so I lowered to 65, (I have an OASIS) then my regular smokes were too dry and crackly. Reset back to 70% and the next smoke was perfect. I had heard that because CC supposedly has more tobacco, that 70% may cause plugging

I will try my first CC at 70% and see what happens.
