I had a chance to contribute to California's poor air quality by burning a couple of cigars during a road trip.
One was a pyramid of some sort...maybe a Partagas P2. It was dark and oily (as they say), and it was "good" (on the scale of "good" or "bad").
Another one was a double corona of some sort...I think it was a Hoyo DC from 1998 or so...very nice cigar. Also rates "good" or even "VERY good". Medium "natural" color, perfect burn.
The last was a RyJ EL Hermoso that was very very good.
Sorry, but I just ran out of adjectives and the number thing always sort of escaped me, but of the cigars I smoked, they were "good" or better. They all tasted like a cigar. With one, I had a Diet Barq's Root Beer, and the flavor was a nice complement. Try it some time!! Driving up and down Interstate 5 in a fog of smoke when it's 110 degrees outside gets old really fast...so I created my own microclimate...smoke but with the a/c blasting, listening to old school salsa. Not too uncomfortable all things considered.

ryj7x47 Do I suspect a little bit of Sarcasm here, or is it just my imagination.
If so then well deserved, I myself have to admit that I put like we say in Spanish "Mucha Crema a mis Tacos" meaning I over explain things and go to much in detail and most of the time even brag,

Roberto...I just run out of adjectives...plus I lost track of which cigar is which, so it's all guesswork! I can be a bit more specific with boxes, but with the loose cigars it's tough to remember.
How much CAN you say about a cigar? Tastes like a cigar...!

Yeah, that makes sense...I gave it the "good" to "very good". I think it was even a bit better than that, though. Really nice, subtle flavors, but not a powerhouse by any means.
I do note a different tint to today's smoke...there's a little bit more "blue" in it than yesterday. That calls for another cigar.

I fully agree with your rating system. It was a real pleasure to see for once somebody making sense in describing a cigar.
If I was forced to to design a rating scale for cigars it would probably look like this:
1- An excellent, outstanding cigar, 2- A good one, 3- Questionable cigar, a Cuban but not an export quality 4- A fake or NC, impossible to enjoy.
All these esoteric descriptions of taste and flavour associations make me laugh.
On the other hand I can tell the vitola more then 90% of the times in a blind test and never fail to distinguish CC from NC; it has been tried by family and friends many times.
The time of a day, recent meal type and current mood are so important in cigar perception that one could easily be classified as 1 one time or 2 on some other occasion and vice versa.
