I was recently on vacation in the caribbean and wandered into a store that I was told had a very good reputation. I looked at a few of the "merchandise" and noticed a box of H. Upmann no.2s. I took a closer look and saw that the bands were the red and gold kinds, not the plain brown variety. When I returned to the U.S. I did my research and everything that I saw with that cigar was the plain brown band. Was it always like that or was there a change in the past? Just curious.

They changed from brown to red/gold in early 2007. I'm not saying what you saw was real but red/gold bands on 2007- Upmanns is correct.

It appears that the store is legit. I actually sent an email to the owner who promptly directed me to Caribbean Cigar Corporation where he purchases all his merchandise and is supposed to be the official distributor for the Caribbean. Upon further research and investigating his story actually checks out. I actually feel kind of bad now because I let him have it in my email Red Face

Wow, that's pretty much what I saw in the store. Rookie mistake. Just wanted to be careful.
