LCDH in Revolucion Street, well last time I said anything bad about this shop or it's owners I recieved an email with a threat to start a lawsuit against me...

Yeah, that sounds like the typical crap you get from those purveyors of sometimes real, sometimes fake cubans...LMAO!

Come on, Javvy! No me digas. There may be an OUTSIDE chance that they have a few authentic Cuban cigars (but not the ones I've seen in DF, Guadalajara or TJ...), but the other problem is how they're kept, and no matter the pedigree, if they're just thrown around...no vale la pena! Not worth it regardless.

I would personally avoid LCDH. I have had 2 negative experiences there. And while the owner "tried to help" after the first, I still was not happy after the 2nd. My business is going elsewhere.

backdrft76,

I see the information "Posts: 2 | Registered: June 07, 2007" and both posts reviving controversial threads from 2006 & 2004 denigrating LCdH-TJ.

If you have had bad experiences then by all means post accordingly but drudging up old threads seems imprudent.

The key here is that
quote:
. . .they "tried" to correct their mistake. . .

Being a regular at a store that sells as much product as they and dealing in a product that has so much suspicion naturally lending itself to some unhappy customers reminds me of the story told by Milton Berle who was known as Mr. Television by the masses & Mr. Cigar by those close. Mr. Berle fancied himself as an expert on cuban cigars and told the story of purchasing an H. Upmann and upon lighting telling the clerk that it was not a genuine H. Upmann. The clerk assured Mr. Berle that it was indeed a genuine H. Upmann to which Mr. Berle proclaimed that he was an expert in cuban cigars and that it was definitely not real. A gentleman who was talking to the clerk also assured Mr. Berle that the cigar was a genuine H. Upmann to which Mr. Berle said, "I am an expert in cuban cigars who the hell are you?" The gentleman said, “My name is H. Upmann, and I am the son of the founder of the company!!!" Milton Berle said this to be the most embarrassing moment of his life.

Two recent examples of which I have direct knowledge: A gentleman purchased a large humidor that arrived broken and the replacement was also received damaged. The store gave the option of refund or replacement, but the gentleman wanted four boxes of Montecristo No 2s worth more than the humidor. The store agreed and the cigars were shipped. The boxes were received and the gentleman expressed gratitude to Moises, the store manager. In addition Moises asked me to personally deliver several Taboada cigars to the gentleman at his office. On the phone he expressed to me his gratitude to the store and Moises in particular for their professionalism. Secondly a couple of months ago I was in the store when the father of patron brought in 2 clear baggies of loose cigars (2 different vitolas) because his son had thrown away their boxes when they were placed in his humidor, had smoked several of each blend, and wanted to exchange the balance for puros for a different size not because they were bad but just because he wanted a different size. I was amazed when the store exchanged them without question or argument for unopened boxes of the vitolas he wanted.

backdrft76, These are not isolated incidents, and you will find other instances in this forum and in other websites of their approach of going above and beyond the call of duty to please their customers and patrons. I am indeed sorry that you had these experiences, but I and the other patrons can assure you that they will more than amend any situation if given the opportunity.

You know all this talk of whats real and fake.
A total waste of time really.
I mean handing someone a fake cigar is like handing them a fake $20 bill.
You can only dupe the people who are not paying attention or don't know what they are looking at.
I like LCDH because there i don't need to worry world wide i always get a fair shake.

Just adding my own personal comments, thanks. When you are shipped something, you have no control over what you receive. When you send it back and get the same result again for the second time, well, its time to take my business elsewhere. Thanks anyway!

The best place to go is La Villa Del Tabaco, this was Rudys shop but since he passed away his wife is running it now. I can guaranty you that you will not find a single fake Cuban cigar in there! I love going there, they have Wi-Fi and coffee and you can hang out and smoke!

Here is the address:
868 Av Revolución #15, Tijuana, Baja California Mexico

After doing a good deal of research and reading this forum, I went down to TJ and visited La Villa Del Tabaco. Great experience.

The staff there helped me out and gave me a few reccomendations to try beyond the typical fare of MonteCristo, Uppman and RyJ. The Partagas Serie D no 4 is and outstanding medium smoke that I fell in love with that day.

The owner, Elana, who is Rudy's widow came down and spent some time with me while I enjoyed the Partagas in the lounge, very charming woman.

Getting back into the country with a dozen in my pockets was a snap. They will check the bags by not your pockets. I reccomend walking accross the border and not driving, it is much faster. The pedestrian line to get back into the US was almost a mile long but it moved quickly and I was through it in about an hour.

I am not a big fan of TJ at all but I am a huge fan of La Villa and Elena Rawman. Do yourself a favor and stop by the next time you find yourself in TJ.

I too have had nothing but positive experiences at the LCDH in TJ.

Moises cigar experience is quite evidant after speaking only a few minuets with him. He is a top knotch business man, and a pleasure to deal with.
