In the Cuban cigar category, my oldest cigars are a half-dozen Diplomaticos No.3s from Nov 98. I am also saving those for a special occasion, especially since they are on the 2007 "discontinued" list from Habanos.

I have 3/4 box left of '95 Monte Especiales No. 1 (Laguito No. 1 size). These are very tasty and well rolled- no draw problems found yet and they are SS provincial factory.
I have some Punch Exquisitos from 1987 and some Belinda Belvederes from 1989...both MM's. Oldest HM cigars I currently have would be from 1997. The oldest cigar I've ever smoked was a 1981 Monte Especial # 1 that I enjoyed in Las Vegas last summer.

I have a couple boxes of Del Mundos from 1991. I have smoked samples of cigars ranging from Dunhill Cubans from the late 80s to some Upmanns from the 1970s and 1960s. Nothing older than that though. All the above were (Del Mundos are still great) were fantastic.
I forgot about the 1990 ERDM Demi-Tasse. That tops the '95 Monte Especiales for age. The Demi-Tasse is a very small cigar but it packs a big taste. My rambling just reminded me of the box of '92 Montecristo Joyitas I saw in the back of the Aristocrat yesterday while adding distilled water, so that's the oldest. Another great little cigar that's full of flavor.

I was gifted one of those as well, in the same deal,a 1992 Monte Joyitas. Oldest smoke I ever had! Damn good too, I must say

I am also looking at picking up a box of the MM Los Statos Brevas from Switzerland- I have heard good reports about them. I do have a box of '96 Los Statos Selectos Cedros which have 'Totalmente a mano' stamped on the bottom and they are a good mild smoke for a change of pace.
Makin' me sad remembering my 1991 Cohiba Lanceros that I ran thru quickly as a newbie 6 or 7 years ago, procurred from a very nice British Diplomat divesting of his supply at ridiculously low prices due to lack of understanding of worth. I now know I suffered from same disease considering auction value of those two boxes... Oldest now, 2001 Partagas LE.

I smoked one from the local B&M that had been there a week once. My oldest cigars came from CECtech and I don't know there age. So I must answer a week or month maybe.

While we are on this thread, I was in Phoenix at the JW Marriott and saw in their humidor several boxes of pre embargo sticks. Would these still be good? I am sure their storage fro the past 50 years would be an issue. I also saw some 80+ CC's at a casino in Veras and could not bring myself to spend $130 on a single cigar.
Was I a wise old man or faint of heart?

Not necessarily. Many purchase cigars already aged by the vendor. For instance, the cigars I have from 1987 and 1989 were just obtained by me last year. Lots of guys do the same thing.

I see US online stores advertising cigars made with pre-embargo tobacco. Is any of this stuff real? How did that amount of tobacco survive the 90s boom or for that matter survive the last 40-50 years forgotten in a warehouse. Would it not be dust?
