I'll be taking my second trip to Toronto in June and am looking forward to purchasing some CCs to smoke while I'm there. The last time I was there I bought from Thomas Hinds and Sleuth & Statesman B&Ms. This time I'm thinking the LCDH may be a good place to buy. Any thoughts on the best places to buy CCs in Toronto in terms of quality (authenticity obviously) and price? Thanks in advance for the advice!

Head north and buy from Cigar Bodega, Main Street Markham.

Just go back to Thomas Hinds and then turn left while you are facing the store. Keep walking in that direction on cumberland till you get to the LCDH which will be on your right. It will be just before University Ave.

Their prices are a tiny bit lower than Thomas Hinds but you will not find the selection of ELs. Mind you if you can part with 40.00-80.00 per EL then by all means.

Happy hunting

You can also try The Smokin' Cigar on Bayview Avenue (just south of Eglinton Ave).

Just a correction:

LCDH isn't actually on cumberland, it is on yorkville, one street north.

Yes, you are right. So if you are facing Thomas Hinds turn left and walk down cumberland to Bay St. Then turn right on bay and walk one block north to Yorkville. And then turn left and continue till you get to LCDH which is very close to Univeristy Ave.

Speaking of Toronto -- but on a totally unrelated subject -- there was a radio contest once in Montreal :
First prize was a week in Toronto.
Second prize, 2 weeks in Toronto.
3rd prize, 3 weeks in Toronto.

Just kidding. TO is much much better than it was...

Agreed. Will be a bit cheaper and good service.
They don't have to pay the ungodly rental fees of Yorkville.

Smokin Cigar is you best bet, downtown.

You can save a few $$ at Holy Smokes, though their selection is pretty lousy lately. Still, they usually have a full lineup of Siglos, and the better known CCs, plus the occassional EL.
They're located inside the Loblaws/Real Canadian Superstore 'markets' (big grocery stores with dry-cleaners, liquour stores, travel agents, etc., plus often a cigar shop). There's one at the foot of Jarvis St., between Queens Quay and Lakeshore.

But, for selection, go with Thomas Hinds, Smokin Cigar, or LCDH. Sleuth & Statesman has a poor selection, and is overpriced, imho.

Avoid small shops without walk-in humidors - I've seen a couple of retailers with a layer of probable genuine cigars underneath half a layer of fakes.

I've been to most of those places and I don't think your going to save very much. Maybe 1 or 2 dollars a stick tops.

Go ahead and try them out though.

Thomas hinds has a good selection of harder to find cigars, better then any of the others as far as Im concerend. As for prices, Cheers Smoke Shop has the lowest prices for Cuban Cigars I believe its only 2.5x - 3x the cost, where as Thomas hinds is I believe 4x - 5x the cost, they dont have a large selection like Hinds, but they do have a goood assortment.
They are located on McCaul Street, if you do a google search for them you will find the address.

Yes, most Toronto cigar shops are only seperated by a few dollars.
I find myself going back to the shops where I find the most friendly and helpfull people.
That's why I like Epicure in Mississauga.

And they have pretty good prices too.

Thanks for all of the input. It sounds like Thomas Hinds is the spot to buy from. I may venture to some other shops that were suggested as well. Thanks again!

I must add to my earlier reply.
I did go to Thomas Hinds on Saturday to have Arnaldo Alfonso roll me a few custom cigars.

First we went upstairs to see the selection of cigars for sale.
I was surprised at the low pricing on Cohiba cigars.

I might say that they have the lowest prices on Cohibas in Toronto.

But I haven't been to EVERY cigar store in Toronot yet.

I've been to a lot, but not all of them.

a few years back when I started with the cigar scene I bought a lot of stuff from them (many singles). They have a good selection and I actually found some pretty nice Opus X gift sets which I got for a good deal....prices on CC's are decent, maybe 3X what they are going for in Cuba.
