This cigar is maketed to locals only and cost a peso. I had the opportunity to try one today and was impressed with the smooth flavor. It appears to be hand rolled with long fill. Much better than a lot of the low to mid priced cigars targeted to foreigners IMHO. Anyone had a similar experience?

Bring some to a smoke out in Montreal.

SMOOTH!!?!?!???!? I've heard peso cigars called lots of things, but 'smooth' never ever entered into the equation. Dog-feces? Yes. Hojas de platano? Yes. Bitter scraps, stems and seeds? Yes. Smooth? No. But taste IS subjective, so who am I to discount any such findings??!?

Wish I could remember the brand name, but last year I bought a few peso cigars in Pepito Tey, near Cienfuegos that were as good as most exported brands. Smoked them all on the island & didn't keep a band. Doh!

Yeah...like Ripple is part of the 'wine' experience, and the gut-rot they sell at the corner cafeterias they call 'rum' is part of the rum experience...

sorry...does not compute.

I like to smoke them once in awhile. Goes well with peso rum....lol

They're sold under different "names".

Short filler although a solid ash. Always seem to burn and draw perfectly.

I always bring some back with me. For 1 peso, a LOT better than the crap your newfound "fren" will sell you :-)

Bingo. Why even waste your time contributing to the thread. I realize that you know a lot about cigars, but why post something that might insult someone? Perhaps you shouldve reccomended another cheap smoke that you think is a better value.

"Anyone had a similar experience?"

Just as I can't comment on one's taste, if someone's offended, that's their problem. If someone asks for a representative answer, what would you rather have? A crock of hooey blown up your hole? Or a straight shot?

If ANY of these posts make it to print...I made a different post along the line of Bo's about peso 'rum'. If you run out of gaz, it works.
