Next september I'll be traveling from Mexico with family to Florida and a oriental caribean cruise. Obviously, I would like to bring some cigars (10 or so). Is airport security as tight to confiscate my cigars? Should I bring them unbanded? Any thoughts?
Might want to slip on a few Te-Amo or Aromas de San Andres bands on them for a true feeling of safety. If you keep them on your person, I think you will not have any trouble. There are Cuban cigars available on most cruise lines, although many do not feel like they are always autentico

Guadalajara...do NOT buy at Amaris at Gran Plaza...and I think there's another one in the newer mall, I forget. They say they "absolutely guarantee" the authenticity of their cigars. Well, the humidor is quite dark, and it's tough to see, but long ago, before I really knew better, I bought a Hoyo DC, a Boli Immensas, and a Robaina Unico there, and as I left the store, I fired up the Boli and IMMEDIATELY knew it was not authentic. Guarantee mi culito! Bunch of hogwash. They would not refund for that cigar, or for the others that, under a more detailed inspection, were quite clearly not authentic Habanos. So...forget that place!
They sell what are supposedly authentic Cuban cigars in other stores, too, but they are fakes, too. And the Duty Free? FORGET IT! Not a real one in the bunch.
So...where you go to get your 'cc's' is important...Cancun has a Casa de Habanos, and DF has a few. Stick to there, otherwise, you ARE better off with some Te Amo's.
The counterfeit problem in Mexico is STILL an atrocity and a mockery of the industry.
