I recently put my friend on to smoking CCs from the usual DR and Nic's he's been smoking for the past few months. Mind you he is a newbie in general to cigars. To share my passion for CC's I gave him a "sampler" bag of 2 Hoyo De Ms petit robusto, 2 BRCs, 2 Romeo short churchhills, 2 Monte #2s. Told him to progressively work his way up that list for temperance of the cigar starting with the petit robustos. I personally love the petit robusto's as it was my first CC when I was on training wheels 4 years ago and still keep a box today. What were some of your first starter CCs??

I started modestly with a Fonseca Delicia that I found rather flavorsome and strong. However, today I would not even consider smoking one under most conditions.

A great starter CC is the very mild but flavorfull Qai d Orsay. Distinct Cuban tobacco flavor with a mild herbal tea note.
Some CC's can be over whelming and to complex for newbs.
Also if your new to Cuban tobacco and want to get familuar with the flavor profile you can start with something like a Jose Piedra. Strait forward Cuban flavor. No complexity but you can get the flavor profile of Cuban tobacco and take it from there.
Alot of newbs buy fakes and ask people if they are real by posting photos. If you get to know the distinct flavor by purchasing a bargain brand like Piedra you will know the difference when you start to move into higher end CC's.
JMHO.

Rudechuck,

Well mind you I didnt just give them away for free! I did charge a discounted price to him Wink... I just spoke to him and he is at some lakehouse puffing the stogies away as we speak. Curious to see what his opinions are (I'll let you guys know as well) considering this may be the first time he is actually smoking well regarded cc brands and he has no knowledge of their profile/background!

Still, pretty cool to hook a friend up. I only have two friends locally who smoke and one of 'em gets most of his smokes from me for FREE. (He gets the rest from the other guy. Big Grin) I don't mind 'cause his wife always cooks, and she's a damn good cook too and they're both really good friends. No CCs yet, but hope to change that soon.

first off dude , you are one heck of a friend!
BRC's and Monte #2's, your like a CC pusher! He may never go back to DC's. Those are two great sticks!

I think my first REAL CC was a Cohiba Genio, and it was excellent.
