I fully understand the rules regarding the dicussion of sources, and more so the reaction by members to such a question. I traveled the same journey as many of you, first with non-cubans,then cubans, then hooked. During my smoking years my three favorite cigars were,punch-punch,I loved that cigar,psd4,and siglo iv. Unfortunately, due to health reasons I was forced to quit, and make the painfull decision to sell all my stock two years ago. I was a member of this board before, mostly lurking, during the time of members of the hcf leaving, banned, lurked in that site also. If only I get the green light,I"ll go further I know when to stop.
Welcome back! Those HCF years certainly were entertaining. So are you back to smoking? Never cared for PP or the D4s, but recent Siglo IVs have been fantastic.
Too bad Jimmy only had that one scene. I don't know what the deal is, but I can't get into cigarwise. Thanks Bassman I do remember you from the old days. You were the deciding factor of me pulling the trigger on a box of Series A.I'm also from Philly. My last cigar was the day of the phillies parade. I don't need a source,I have plenty, besides I quit. I don't want a war with anyone. As I said I just have a burning question about A source.Again if you guys give me the go,I'll explain, if not I'll go away, and if anyone can help, and wants to help me, can e-mail me. Thanks
From what I've read so far, and from the Sticky Post on the top as long as you don't talk about the actual sources name, anything descriptive to identify the source and prices, you should be in the clear...
But then, look at my post count and what the hell do I know....
Thanks, sorry I took so long getting back. I made my first purchased from this vender in 02 after receiving a conformation from a member of this forum. My opinion, based on the cigars I smoked from this vender he is legit. As I stated earlier I sold off all my remaining stock to friends, acquaintance with no complaints except for one person. He was an executive at a national corporation, based in suburban Philadelphia who seem to be knowledgeable about cigars. He had bought my last six coros. When I saw him two weeks later,I asked him how he like the cigars. With a disgusted look on his face he told me they were counterfeits. He went on to say after smoking one he suspected they were counterfeits, and how he mailed one to a friend who works for Cigar Aficionado. After his friend disected the coro and inspecting the filler, he determined it was a counterfeit. He told me this only because I asked,he wasn"t planning on saying anthing to me. I explain to him I beleived that they were authenic and offered him his money back.He declined. Since all this took place at my place of employment, I left it alone. I saw him a few times since, with neither of us mentioning what happen earlier.I never had the opportunity that I was waiting for to ask him if I could speak to his friend, since he left the area to pursue a job offer. Even though this took place two years ago I still wonder if he was truthfull. What prompt me to post this now, even though I quit smoking I still visit sites for reviews, forums etc. Last week I stumbled in a site,or blog I tried to find it again but could not. There were four comments about this vender, with two saying they were legit, and two not, with one of them saying how this vender produces the best counterfeits in the market. If anyone knowledgeable would like to ease my mind I would be gratefull. My e-mail should be in my profile.

he replied to me and i hope i gave him some usefull information.i live in UK and am not paranoid about purchasing CC's. like most guys in the states.in fact i post under my real name.i doubt whether a single member of any cigar forum has ever been prosecuted by US customs.they just want to frighten you and cut your cigars up.i dont want any silly replies saying there is always a first time.i think you guys in the states could make a meal of this if you stuck together.

While people did jump the gun and pile on in this thread without digesting the full context, your response is uninformed and, well, quite arrogant.
Sorry, but you simply have no idea what you're talking about in regards to this issue. Many U.S. citizens (including those who post on cigar forums) have received not only warning letters, but also substantial fines, and, yes, jail time (although there are probably less than 10 cases total of that, but it DOES occur) for violating the Trading With the Enemy Act in regards to the U.S. embargo vs. Cuba.
Forgive me, but I'd suggest that you cease making assumptions as facts and lay off with the haughty attitude unless you actually have experience or, at least, education on a subject before popping off about it.
Yeah, we know you can get Cuban cigars and not have to worry about it. Yeah, we wish we could do the same. But, that is not the case, so please show a modicum of respect and understanding for our situation instead of thumbing your nose and insulting us for the fact that we have to show discretion. Thanks.

This statement reflects a certain lack of knowledge.
First, U.S. Customs (a subdivision of the Department of Homeland Security) is not responsible for "prosecuting" claims of violations of the Trading with the Enemy Act. U.S. Customs is responsible for inspecting shipments into the U.S. from other countries and will, indeed, seize shipments of Cuban cigars. Sometims Customs will follow such a seizure with a certified letter to the addressee of the shipment offering an opportunity to protest the seizure and claim the property.
The responsibility for enforcement of the Trading with the Enemy Act belongs to the U.S. Treasury Department through its Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).
I personally know more than a dozen members of various cigar boards who have received letters from OFAC accusing them of purchasing Cuban cigars over the internet and demanding detailed information on the alleged purchases and any other similar purchases.
I personally know at least one member of a cigar board who ended up agreeing to pay a "civil penalty" to OFAC rather than to contest the matter. All in all, I estimate that OFAC's website indicates that it collected upward of $100,000.00 in civil penalties on account of alleged internet purchases of Cuban Cigars in the past three years or so. And in these cases the cigars were not seized by Customs, but were delivered and the vendors' transaction records were apparently the source of OFAC's information.
