If you were going to Europe, would you buy Cubans in London or Geneva taking into account you're going to a reputable shop? Would the duty free be a better option?

Definitely Switzerland, UK is probably the most expensive in Europe (even 15% more than Ireland, which is already horrible). Switzerland and Spain are the cheapest in Europe. Geneva is (very roughly) about 35% cheaper than London based on past experience.
Definitely CH. I recently met a couple of guys visiting from the UK and they said the prices are so high for Cubans even rich people choose to not smoke them. I though that was a rather strong statement.
If you have to go to London, duty free is the way to go regarding prices. There are good cigar shops in the various terminals at Heathrow, the selection won't be as good as the high street but they have a lot of 3 and 5 packs, I have never heard of anyone getting fakes there. Storage is as good as high street shops. However, Geneva is much cheaper, currently less than 50% UK prices, some havanas are less then 30% UK. I'm not sure about Switzerland but a lot of continental Europe has lower prices in cigar shops than duty free (a lot of European countries have government controlled tobacco prices whereas duty frees are exempt and can raise them). Geneva has a couple of very well known cigar shops with very good service and selection, you'll find a lot of aged cigars, I have never had a fake from them.
