We've seen the list of 2008 new releases, but here are the first pictures I've seen so far:

New production cigars:
H. Upmann Magnum 50
Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure Especial
Partagas Salomones

Seems like double bands are becoming more prominent? If anyone has pictures for EL's and ER's, please post them.

Thanks Bo!

A couple of interesting things to be sure:

Two of the new production cigars, the Mag 50 and the HdM Epi Esp with the second bands..nice!

What I find really interesting, hope to find for myself are the Bolivar Short Bolivar...love Bolivar taste, and the size, a petit edmundo is bound to be outstanding!

Strange.

On the new Habanos calendar, the EE and Mag50 didn't have the double bands. But evidently they both will be offerred in tubes, which is awesome.

Also, the RJ Churchill will be getting double-band treatment similar to the Short Churchill.

Double bands for all!

I wonder if any of you out there know when the 2008 releases will start showing up at retailers? I searched around as well as asked my vendors, but yielded nothing. If you know something, please share with us. Thanks.

I will be at LCDH in Cancun next week and hopefully a factory store in Havana on Monday if all goes well in the next day or two. I was talking to one of the managers of the LCDH in Cancun by email the other day and they have not seen any, but the Spanish to English thing, might leave me wondering a little. I will investigate and update from the Blackberry in Mexico.

Cheers,

Tell me about it man. The Magnum 46 and Epicure 2 are two of my favorites. If the Magnum 50 and Epicure Especial are anything like those, 2008 would be a good year for me and my coolerdor.

The Mag 50 is a double robusto, the EE is sort of between a robusto and a double robusto, which may turn out to be a nice size... Cool

James Suckling provided some unofficial info on the 2008 releases in his blog:

Here is an excerpt:
"I heard there are no plans (so far) for any Limitadas this year. Apparently, the editions last year were so late into the market that it doesn’t make sense to launch new ones yet. The only new things coming out will be the mainstreaming of the H. Upmann Magnum 50, which was a Limitada a few years back, and something from Hoyo that was formally a Limitada. There’s some talk of Cohiba Sublimes becoming a standard for the brand but nothing is sure yet."

The Hoyo De Monterrey Epicure Especial EL 2004 was one of my favorite cigars, it is good to see that it will be offered as a standard this year.

The Mag46 is my favorite and I like most Upmann in general so I'm pretty excited about the Mag50. I didn't smoke it when it was a limited release so I'm not sure what they were like. Has anyone tried one and I wonder how the regular production will differ?
