After a good taco a good tobacco. Well this was the case last night, we had a great diner and this deserved a great habano.

You know those diners when you are just full and everything was perfect, that all you need now is a great drink and well the perfect habano.

Now in the past the Millennium Jar Habanos were in my opinion rolled a little bit to lose, so they burned to fast to hot.

So I changed them from the jar to my humidor and increased the RH to 65%, and I had smoked one of these in a long time at least 2 years.

Well last night was the night I knew that a special habano was in place.

This Habanos was very dark shiny and looked like the perfect habano, the draw was just right the 65% humidity had really improved the draw not to lose this time.

Now for the most important part the taste, had just ordered a single malt scotch had the first sips, the food was going down with the scotch now it was time for the habano.

Starts with a great dark chocolate taste, with a touch of vanilla and cream, excellent taste to start and the smell of the smoke was so crowd pleasing that even non smokers did not complain.

At the middle of this habanos a meaty taste came out, a good meaty taste, rich taste, combined with a strong espresso taste, but not overpowering.

The taste just got better and better, burned straight the whole time, a perfect ash, the draw stayed perfect since sometimes with pyramides you need to cut them again to improve the draw, not the case this time.

I would say the only drawback was that it went out at the end, but only once, well at the end this habanos was tasking better than ever, strong taste at the end strong espresso with a strong cinnamon taste, but those habanos that you just don't want them to end, I did burn my fingers a little bit.

A great habano that I would have to put in the top 10 Habanos of all time, 8 years have really made these Cohibas the best of the best.

My rating is a 98 maybe even a 99, and in the taste department I would score it a 100.

That's quite an endorsement!! I have not had one of these in a while. Can you say some more about the flavor profile? Was it like other "Cohiba" cigars? Was it like other cigars of that time that were using the latest hybrid wrappers they were experimenting with? Personally, I didn't think it was anything like a "Cohiba" per se, but more like the other millennium releases, so I'd be interested to see your feeling in that regard. Much like the EL line, where they really don't seem to be like the lines they purport to be, I see the millennium line as one to be judged alongside the others from the series rather than the regular line of, say, Cohiba or Montecristo or Cuaba.

Sounds like a great night!! I take it the walk-in project ended up very good...!

ryj7x47 always a pleasure to reply to you. well the taste part was the best part, I would strongly say that This Cohiba Millennium did not taste anything like the normal Cohiba line, or the EL Cohiba Line.

I would say that from the Millennium Series this is even better than the Monte Robusto or Cuaba Salomones.

Never once did it have that overpowering taste that the EL line sometimes have, each puff was clean and with intense flavor, the change in taste was also quite significant since you could taste when it went from Chocolate to Cinnamon to Meat to cream again.

Please try one, and you will see what I mean, the secret I think was changing them to my desktop humidor and out of the jar, since in the jar they were just to dry, you can even tell how the oils come out on the humidor when you increase the humidity to 65%.

What surprised me more was the end, I could not let this one go out, it really burned my fingers, a very good habano, and the taste at the end was strong but like I said, it was a good strong, a strong turkish coffee at the very end.

This Habano reminded me of a great Habano not made anymore the Quintero Churchill (londsdale) it had that same great taste, that same great change in flavors.

One thing I forgot to mention is that there was no after taste, you know like with some LE that there is a certain after taste at the end, not with this one.

If only I had boughten more of these Jars, I remember when they had them on Sale at LCDH for 600 dlls, well who knew.

Not trying to cause any problems here, Roberto, but the Cuaba jar was the Distinguido, not the Salamones, and as good as the Cohiba and the Monte Jar cigars are, my favorite are the Cuaba Distinguido...like nothing else Cuaba has made and that includes the Habanos Book Salamone which is a great cigar, but the Distinguido to me far outshone the other jars from that time.
Sounds like you had a fantastic evening and smoke, though, I really enjoy reading your reviews....

Karl,

You are right, and to be honest I only had one Cuaba Distinguido and it was incredible and this was like 5 years ago, so they must be fantastic as well.

"...like nothing else Cuaba has made..."

Then it HAS to be at least half-way decent!

I haven't had one, but I have had the robustos and pyramids. Guess they're all worth re-visiting.

Hmmm, I found the pyramides to be similar to the linea classica, only a bit more subtle. Maybe just my mind playing tricks on me? I have a couple left so maybe it's time to re-visit them.

Mine went straight from the jar into the humidor, so I didn't encounter the problems you mentioned Roberto.

I tried my first millenium distinguido only about a month ago, and it was fantastic.

Oh, this cigar was/is a dream. I have only smoked two, but the first was the most memorable. It was at a weekend smoking party in the Poconos. The host, I will call him the king of the castle as that is how we were treated, had a dozen or so friends up for a day and night of great cigars. We, of course, also all brought our favorites as well.

As darkness came, we sat down to dinner outside. Amazing porterhouse steaks fire grilled and trout that were fresh caught by some that day. But after dinner our host passed around a jar of these divine 2000 smokes. I have never before sat at a table of a dozen men and women who were speechless; occasionally someone sighed or moaned or whispered about the coffee or cashew notes. As each inch or two went up in smoke, a new exclamation went up and someone said ahh chocolate or cinnamon spice. I can only describe the hour or so as glorious, and will remember it ‘til my dying day. Thank's again to my host.

The second was also from that jar and it came to me in a box pass. Many of the same flavors, but it did not compare to the experience of that night.

I had one of these Saturday night. I just love them. I've only got eight left fromthe jar that I bought about seven years ago and usually only have them on somewhat special occasions. I've found the flavors are VERY similar to the original release of the piramids in the Cohiba sellecion reserva box.

I had one from my Jar recently and it was sensational. These really are very special cigars and ones I will be keeping for special occassions. Beautiful smooth complex flavors of tea and spices with an underlying cream profile. I agree with some of the others The Millennium Cohiba does not taste like any other Cohiba.

I also recently had my first Cuaba Millennium and I was amazed at how similar it was to the Cohiba, so much so I would guess that the same tobacco was used in the Cohiba and Cuaba just rolled in different sizes. I have never had the Monte Millennium so dont know if the similarity carries over with it also.

The Cohiba Millennium Piramide is up there with the best Havanas I have ever tasted.

I had a Cohiba Millennium and just did not get this cigar. I would rate it about an 85. This was my Obama smoke from last fall. http://www.flyingcigar.de/smok...wide_obama_smoke.php

I have one Cuaba Millennium and am saving for a special occasion.

my case is a little different on these, i left my cohiba jar with (at the time) a prominent cigar lounge here in Melbourne, for about 4 years, in short they were neglected and over humidified and quite a strong Vineger smell, many proffessionals told me they smell like old cigars, but i suspected they were mouldy (amonia) so these for me were Ruined, i have tried 2 from the jar, and i felt they were very sweet but mild, maybe because they are or maybe becuase they were ruined, but a shame for such an expensive cigar now 10 years old.

so these have never tickled my fancy

Steve,

I am guessing you had a bad or poorly stored example. Try the Cuaba, they are very similar to the Cohiba's. I'd be very curious what you think of the Cuaba given your experience with the Cohiba.

The Cuaba looks and smells amazing. Not sure when I will smoke it. And now CJE is tempting me with a jar of these buggers. Let's see, pay the development team or by a jar of Cuaba Millenniums?

I finally found the La Casa del Habano here in Qatar last night. They had 2 Cohiba Mill. Jars in boxes, as soon as my hand went to check the price the woman working there said "those are not for sale". She further crushed my hopes and dreams by informing me they didn't have any RE either. Great review Roberto, thank you!
