I've been thinking about my experience at this shop recently and whether I should post about it here or not. After a week of thought, I decided that it would be a good thing to mention it. I went to canada last weekend for a niagara falls visit. Wonderful place. Expensive!, but wonderful. I wanted to visit a nice shop that had been recommended to me by some of you on this forum. I'm talking about Gordons cigars and pipes. There are three shops in the area that I knew about. Two are located at the Niagara on the lake area and then Gordons. Gordons is located on Ferry St. If you judge from the outside, you would not go in. If you dared, you wouldn't expect a fair deal or legit cubans. What you really wouldn't expect is the proprietor Sam. This middle aged asian it very funny, knowledgable and extremely helpful. He stayed in the humidor with me and told me all sorts of info about cuba and cuban cigars while I threw names of cigars at him. It was what you'd expect from a upper class lounge. Being waited on by the shopkeep and with each selection, hearing facts about that cigar. Sam was absolutely wonderful. All of his cigars are well humidified with most having some amount of plume. My only true disappointment is that he did not have a smoking room anymore due to the smoking laws. I tell you could I have stayed and enjoyed one of my selected cigars it would have been a great afternoon. Sam's place is probably the best place to go in Niagara. So if you are planning a trip there, make sure you stop by and purchase a few quality smokes.

I am going home at the end of may for a visit (Buffalo) and planned on going up to Niagara Falls Canada on my way to Toronto. This is nice to know and I will stop by myself. I'll let you know how my experience goes!

I totally agree with you...
Sam @ Gordon's is the one and only in the Niagra Falls region...
Does Sam still offer a 10% discount for CA members? Meh, Canada is like 30 minutes away, but I still can't buy there because I'm not paying $15 for a PC and $25 for a robusto. I'm already paying $6 for a freakin beer, no money left for cigars.

Gordans is the only place to go to when in the falls. Sam is a class act and you can be sure you are getting the real deal. As for Niagara on the Lake, Customs house is good. Sam from Gordans supplies him.
Sam did not give me a discount and I mentioned that he came highly recommended from this forum. But who cares, He IS the man and if I were ever to go back to Niagara I would go to him. I will give the negative though gentlemen, I bought 6 cigars and spent 170$. Now I bought a partagas prez, and serie P no.2, I also got an Upmann conni 1, R&Y BELI, and two regional editions. One was the Bolivar Canadian Simones and the other was Larranaga Asia Pacific. (I think I spelled that right). The only reason I bought the Larranaga was b/c Sam really recommended it. He said that it was a terrific smoke. I have yet to try it. Canada is very, very high priced. I keep thinking that I should have splurged a little more and bought the LE Cohiba pyramid but it was going for something around 60 beans per stick. So, even though I would love to smoke that cigar, alas, its not worth 60 dollars. Let me tell you a little more about how cool Sam is. When I got there on friday, it was late, like around 5pm. I had no idea when his shop would close so while eating at the TGI Fridays on Victoria I called him. This would be around 6pm and Sam told me he closed at 6. The man asked if I wanted to come down at that time b/c he would wait on me. Hands down, this is how a cigar shop should be and he is a great guy. Everyone that loves cigars and happens to go to Niagara should pay him a visit.

There is also Havana Tobacconist at the Fallsview Casino shopping galleria. It is a farily new upscale shop manned by impeccably dressed staff, much like in the Davidoff tradition. Their selection is exquisite (last time I was there, they had unopened Millennium Jars of Habanos 2000 Robustos) but very, very expensive. Cigars start at $40 Canadian and go all the way to $150 each. EACH! A great place if you don't mind dropping the coin.
