Has anyone come across a study on the addictive nature of CC's? I have read several studies on the health hazards accociated with cigar smoke and the general consensus seems to be that cigar smoke is relatively harmless. However, there appears to be an attitude associated with NC's that you can "take em or leave em". On the other hand, once you try a CC you can't wait to have another one. Kinda like Lays Potato Chips! I know that in my case, I've had four different CC's this week and can't wait until 4:00 pm when I will sample a Siglo III. I have also placed an order that will take two weeks to arrive, and I feel like a child waiting on Christmas!!
Cigars can be dangerous ... I'm told they carry most of the dangers as other tobacco products.
As for habit forming, you bet your a$$ Cuban cigars are addictive, and you are right, non-Cubans are not! It's a very simple premise actually, real Cuban cigars taste wonderful, and it's an overwhelming wonderful experience smoking a Cuban cigar. non-Cuban cigars taste like $hit, hence the name 'dog rocket', and are thus, not addictive. If something tastes like $hit, do you find yourself coming back for more?
Run away now before it is to late. Tell the wife to take all the Credit Cards, , don't look back. And inroll in Cuban cigars program. Your name is TOGVIG and you are a CUBAN CIGAR SMOKER "Hi TORVIG"

Ron, lay off the ron. most of the bad stuff, amonia, including nicotine etc, thats in tobacco is broken down during fermentation. Sure, anytime you ignite a substance and drawn in the smoke its not healthy, but cigar smoking has to be the healthiest form of tobacco (assuming you're not inhaling)
so, with low levels of nic, the addiction level is pretty low.
cigarettes are made to be highly addictive and the tobacco is processed ASAP so that nicotine is at its highest which, unfortunately, also means all the other chemicals (amonia, arsnic etc) are also highest.
again, cigars are not safe and your risks of mouth cancer is probably the same as with cigs, but the main culprit, lung cancer is pretty much moot as most don't inhale.

VERY dangerous to have smoke swirling around in your mouth, up into your nostrils and, for some, going through the sinuses and OUT the nostrils...not to mention to put a volatile plant into your mouth where your lips and tongue are in contact with the tobacco. So you think it's safe because you don't inhale? HECK NO! Maybe you're saving your lung, but for the lips, tongue, nasal cavity, sinuses, nose...it's more dangerous than cigarettes.
Some drugs can be physically addicting. Everything else is emotional or psychological - which is equally as addicting.

you're lucky i'm patient with you today, ronnie. I'll just spell out the point I was making, ready? ok, turn off Bass Masters in the backround, now concentrate. . . .Cigars don't pose a significant health problem unless you smoke a double-wide full each day.
it appears the only disease that poses as high a risk as cigs is mouth cancer, but even then you'd have to smoke several sticks/day.
ok, now you can go back to watching the home shopping network.

WOW Good one voodoo. I'm thinking TORVIG was stating that he is now in lust with the Cuban cigar. Hell I am. You guys go over the top. I think a little wacky weed smoked will address that or a good BJ.

it is an enjoyable addiction. I can think of a lot worse. I had my first SigloIII last night at my cousins resteraunt. My friends non smoking wife said it was the most pleasant ciger that she had ever smelt. She had no idea it was a cuban until I told her. She also said that she had no idea that I was such an authority on cigars. I did not bother to tell her that until I started reading this forum that I was a complete idiot "wait, I'm still an idiot" but I'm learning. You guys have been a big help, especialy my bud up north. THANKS
