Based upon the research that I have done so far, I believe that these cigars were introduced in the year 2000 although some rating sites list them as 2001.

I am trying to answer the following questions:

Were these cigars still being produced in 2005?

Does the year designated on the "Edicion Limitada" band on the outside of the box represent the year the EL was introduced or the year the cigars in that particular box were manufactured?

Is GKI Jul05 a legitimate box code for this EL?

Thanks in advance for any input you can supply.

"Were these cigars still being produced in 2005?"

NO, only been produced in 2000

"Does the year designated on the "Edicion Limitada" band on the outside of the box represent the year the EL was introduced or the year the cigars in that particular box were manufactured?"

Your question in unclear to me, but the box year will always match the cigar band year. as these are and "EL" they are rolled and boxed within the same year as their designated "release" year

Yeah, credit is given to RyJ for those... he recommended them a while back many times. They are a very unique smoke. They are also really great looking sticks. You'll see what I mean.

Just so I am clear on this subject.

These cigars can not be authentic because they were only produced in the release year which is 2000 and the date on this box is 2005.

Thanks for your input.

That's right. There may be an over-run of production to the first half of the year following the "EL year" because they continue to manufacture these for demand. Anything that is late in the next year or any year after that is highly likely to be fake. I'd even say definitely fake.

An example is the Cohiba Sublimes of '04 had some of the boxes with codes from the first few months of '05. Cuba has a way of turning a limited production product into more money by making it not as limited.

I tend not to be presumptions, especially when talking about something I have never seen, but if you are saying you have a box of Partagas el piramides with a 2005 box codes, I would not claim them as authentic.

Are you an animal lover or something...Primates, clams...is this the ghost of the Crocodile hunter?
One of the most active parts of the counterfeit havana market is in ELs. Let the buyer beware, but also do what you did. You asked the right question. Not to verify after it's too late, but to ask first. You can still get "the last boxes" of the most popular vitolas...surprise surprise.

NoLa is on the money here. Good idea to ask first and buy later.
