Rarely do I smoke 2 great habanos one after another, last night I smoked a Partagas Serie D #1 2004. Now could this be the next great EL Habano.

Since what a smoke, taste, draw (these smoke much better at 65% RH or lower) burn your fingers, yes.

These get better and better each time I smoke one of them. All the way to the end, taste much like a Partagas Serie D #3 EL 2001 with a more complex taste.

And today after lunch I did not know what could surpass or be in the same league. I opened a box that I have with singles from other boxes, and I stumbled to a SLR Serie A from 2000.

This Habanos came from a Cabinet of 50 that I bought at LCDH about 4 years ago when they had them on sale, they were good at the time, I smoked most of them, but they were not memorable.

I think it had been like 2 years since I smoked the last one. It looked dark and oily, and a great Habano, great taste as well, draw, it really improved since the last time.

Could it be that this was the one diamond in the cabinet, or did they just improve 100% in the last 2 years.

Be it as it may both Habanos were excellent, the Partagas Serie D #1 EL 2004 I would rate a 96 and the SLR Serie A I would rate a 94.

Thanks for the review. I just picked up a couple of the Partagas Serie D #1 2004 from the LCDH in Vancouver. I'm looking forward to trying them when I get home.

As anyone who knows me from the boards will attest, the SLR Serie A is one of my favorites. Cabs from 02 & 03 are smoking very well & the couple 06s I've sampled have a lot of potential.

The D1 has a lot of potential too. It's one of those ELs that for whatever reason, is rarely discussed. I think they need more time, but are hard to resist now.
