So yesterday was a very relaxing day, at the pool the whole day and then in the afternoon I did a little bit of research as to where I could smoke my habanos.

Everyone I asked at the Hotel said the same thing "You can't smoke anywhere in the Island"

No matter who I asked they said the same thing, Concierge went like what when I asked for a Cigar Bar, I would imagine that she would at least tell me of one place but no, not 1 cigar bar or lounge in all Maui, at least not that they knew about.

So this put a damper in my plans, so I went with plan B that was ryj7x47 suggestion, went to the Market and bought a bottle of scotch, they did not have the good stuff so I bought a bottle of Chivas 12, not bad.

Went to a tourist trap restaurant Pineapple Grill, looks like a Margaritaville but with 4 star prices, the food was very bland, no taste at all, the fish could have been from Red Lobster, the only good thing about this place was the Pineapple Upsidown Cake, it was really good, one of the top desserts I have had, really.

So a word of advice if you go to Maui to the Pineapple Grill have an appetizer and go straight for the Cake.

But now I wanted to smoke my Habano, so once again I took ryj7x47 advice and used my balcony, I had some small speakers, put the Ipod to some nice tunes and cut and light a Cohiba EL 2006 Piramide.

Great draw, it smoked straight the whole time, the taste was very good, very Cohiba, started off with a light chocolate taste and then very leathery tasted like a Laguvillin Single Malt.

But at the end it got a little strong, and then the espresso taste hit but not like other limitadas, this one had a more refined taste.

Now I had smoked several of these in the past and really did not do anything for me, but it looks like they are in that point where the taste is really coming out, I tell you I was very impressed this time, it burned straight the whole time, never once did it go out.

And the best part is that when you are in your balcony over looking the ocean, with nice music, my wife was with me for a while but then it was just me and my habano and well some great music and it was very relaxing.

Tonight we are going to a Sushi place since we can't get reservations at Mammas Fish House, I thought everyone was in a recession but Hotel, plane and restaurants are all full.

Bottom Line, Cohiba EL 2006 Piramide, a great cigar that is just ready for smoking, I would give it a 94.

Nice review Roberto. I was just in Maui and if you get a chance, go to Cafe O' Lei in Kihei (great seafood), or if you like Japanese food, Izakaya Matsu also in Kihei. We went to both restaurants twice because we liked them so much.

As for smoking, I also just went out on the deck of my room and smoked there. Relaxing and nobody giving you strange looks.

Enjoy your time there, weather was perfect!!

Great review Roberto.
looks like I will not be going to Hawaii any time soon.
Crazy how cigars control my life. Where ever I travel it has to be cigar friendly or else I won't go.

Anyways, take pictures of your cigar reviews and I look forward to the rest of your reviews from Hawaii.

Won't make a separate post because this Habano was just not there.

Went to have Dinner at Sansai Sushi very near the Ritz Hotel, and I was not expecting much, but I was impressed, great food and service, laid back restaurant, but a great mix of Sushi with a Hawaiian twist.

The Miso Buttefish, one of the best fish dishes I have taste in a long time, it was very very good, and the Maui Onion Rings with a sugar cane mustard, wow is all I can say, and quite cheap, if you get there before 6:00 PM it's 25% off your bill, also the sushi rolls are quite good, but the Butterfish was the best thing.

Came back to the room and had the Mistery Habano, I call it a Mistery because It was given to me in Switzerland by friend that collects Habanos, all it had was a 2000 Cigar Band, very dark and oily, I could not find it anywhere of what brand or actually anything about it, it's a corona gorda size with an Habanos 2000 band, well it was not worth it, very harsh taste, I even got a stomach ache at night.

Left this Habano half way and went to sleep, tonight I smoke an Hoyo Piramide let's see.

I agree, the Cohiba piramides are just getting better over the last year. Nice classic cigar. Might pick up one last box for long term storage.

Cor: Steve, you have proven yourself to be a tremendous whack job.

It's illegal in Hawaii to smoke on any bar/restaurant patios as well as indoors, so no cigar bars anymore.

And it's illegal to smoke on your hotel room balcony as well, so unless you're renting a condo, be careful.
