Thanks to my friend who sent this to me it was a great cigar. Dont get to smoke much any more so this was a real treat. Havent seen too many reviews of this and wonder why. Any comments?
If ignorance is bliss .............. Why aren't there more happy people walking around?
The PSP2 is to me, second only to the 898 as far as Partagas goes. Best young #2 Ive ever had. A special cigar to me, based on taste and size. Would not be without them.

Just had my first PSP2 last week to celebrate my 40th b-day. It was wonderful with an Anderson Valley Barney Flats oatmeal stout. Perfect construction. Draw and burn were wonderful. Full bodied smoke but lacked the spiciness of a PSD4. April 06 box that's been resting in the humi for about one month. I think I'll be buying a lot more of these.
I bought a box of these when they first came out. Very good then and a firm favorite now. A toss up as to whether my hand will reach for the Monte.2 or the Partagas.

Just got finished smoking one that is at least 2 years old out of my storage humidor, it was full of blume, and smoked wonderfully. It has aquired more taste as it has aged, I normally like most cubans straight out of the box with no aging.

From all the things I read on the 898V early on, I always expected to get blown away, but the current 898V really does remind me of PSP#2 and have thought so for some time, which I guess by correlary means that they taste alot like the Short, which is madness. But given the larger girth on the piramide, I would say that those two blends are very similar in final delivery of flavor. I love em both.

Guess I'm not that lucky. I bought one of the early release 10 ct. boxes, and remember the first one after a couple of weeks was pretty green. About a year ago, the second one seemed to be coming around nicely with some bean notes balanced by a mild sweet spiciness. Tried the 3rd one last week and it's gone downhill. Lost the bean and sweet flavors and was pretty single dimensional. Guess I'll just bury what's left of that box and make do with the SdC #1's and the SD4's, which are consistently good.

The 898V is absolutely and completely different from the PSP2. IME the PSD4 and PSP2 are somewhat similar in flavor profile, smoother with rich cocoa and creamy coffee. The 898V is stronger with an rough peppery earthy core. Very different from the previous.
Based on my very limited experience, the P2 has shown tremendous improvement with just a little age on them. A couple of initial tries from a box dated mid-'06 were highly disappointing - the experience was OK for the first third or so (nothing memorable by any means), and would then hit several periods during the last 2/3rds that were just aweful - a "tannic" kind of taste and a bouquet that almost made me recoil - classic signs of youth?? I tried another after letting them rest for six and the results were greatly improved - a thoroughly enjoyable experience from start to finish. If the trend continues with time these will be fabulous.
