Ever since James Suckling smoke the Cohiba Gran Reserva at the Habanos Festival it has been on all the boards, then other Habanos Superstars said the same thing had the same reaction, and this Habano is now a hot Commodity.

From all the CA reviewers James is the one that is more accurate and understands Habanos in my opinion, (hope Savona does not ban me). So I trust what he says.

But 15 Habanos for 1,000 USD, wow, very expensive, now I do hope that Habanos does not see James 100 point and starts printing Cigars just like the USA is printing money these days.

Since I would hate to be the guy that spent 1000 USD and got the bad box, how many times have we spent over 500 dlls on a box of Cohiba just to find out that they were of mediocre quality, I still have some Siglo 5 that are unsmokeable as well as some Lanceros, all from 98-2000 period where they just wanted to increase production,

One thing I have decided is to cancel my order for the Cohiba Coleccion Book 2008 and save some cash to buy some Cohiba Gran Reserva, since I would think that they will run out very soon, especially since there are supposed to be only 5,000 boxes.

Not easy with this devaluation and everyone around us saying how bad the situation is, and we are out there trying to spend 75 dlls per habano.

If any of the established members here want to split a box of the Gran Reservas with me let me know. I think if we have a couple or even three or four people to split one or two boxes and we pool our resources together (money and sources) then we have a better chance of obtaining this special item and maybe even saving some money.

The most attractive point being that if they sell out quickly we would have a better chance of getting some with a few of us going after them.

And... they definitely sound worth it. I certainly would like to have some of these.

Hi Don,

Where did you get the 10k number from, the most I have read have been 5000 boxes, that would be in line with the other Reserva releases..no?

I don't understand the logic of thinking that the 5000 boxes of 15 Reservas will sell out more quickly than the 1000 boxes of 20 Book.

Yes, because GR 5yo aged.

If we compare 5000 NOT little

Bolivar Legendarios RE 2008 produced "ONLY 2430" boxes but still on the sale and reachable.

5000 boxes cohiba and 1000usd easily reachable..

Forgive me if this might be a dumb question but would a Siglo VI with 5 years age taste the same as the Gran Reserva? I guess my question is it the same tobacco used in the regular line just aged longer? My most sincere apologies if this has been discussed on the forum and I missed it.

They aren't the same cigar. The only similarity is the size. I don't know much anything else beyond that. Don't be afraid to ask questions though Wink

Anyone know if the GR's are going to be available in the deuce packs or something strictly for the festival?
