OK. I'm freaking out. Just checked my coolidor tonight. All looked good until tray #3. I noticed some white fuzziness on my RyJ Petit Coronas. These are my oldest cigars (almost 2yrs old) so they'd be candidates for showing plume. My one and only Quinteros also shows some fuzziness. I've read that blue colored fuzz is mold. White is plume. Please see link below for pictures.
I've only been into this about two years, so I haven't seen this for myself yet.
If you have some more cigars like this one try to clean them and smoke them as fast as possible. Don't put them back in your humi with the rest of your cigars. Also you might have to clean your humidor and even sand it and re-season it.
Thanks for the quick response guys. I've already removed them and placed them in a ziploc bag far away.
Good advice on cleaning the humidor. I'll get to that ASAP.
I'll toss the really bad ones and clean up the ones with small spots of mold.
Is this type of mold bad for one's health? I'm obviously not going to eat the things, but if there's a risk I'm just going to toss them altogether. I've got a hundred other cigars in there to worry about.

If it's on the wrapper and wipes off easily you're fine. When it's on the foot though, another story. You can clip the end a bit and see if it stops, if so you can smoke it. White mold is much more innocuous than blue mold, but I don't think you want to inhale it just the same.
I agree with the guys that it is mold but I have seen alot worst. Are the photos the worst of them? Personally I would prefer to toss them being that it is on the foot. If not on the foot I would probably just wipe them and smoke them. I have purchased small boxes with quite a bit less mold then yours and I have simply wiped and smoked them. I would not put them with my other smokes. About cleaning your humidor, I would wipe it down really good and I have actually reseasoned my humidor with a light coat of 70/70 solution because it is non fungal along with water.

Yes, they're the only ones with the mold. Three in total. They came from the same tray. These cigars were in my "coolidor". I put spanish cedar trays within it.
I'm basically going to toss five cigars. Two RyJ's PC's that are covered in mold and one Quinteros. I have two RyJ PC's that have a little bit of mold. Maybe I'll see if I can brush those off, maybe I won't. I'm more concerned about the PS4's RyJ Short churchills and Monty's in that tray.

From what I can see on the pictures the cigars foot seems to be swollen from excess humidity which along with not using distilled water would also cause mold. As long as there is no mold in the cigar jsut brush it off and smoke it. Mold looks like a growth of fuzzy white stuff on the cigar and when brushed off will leave a greenish stain on the wrapper. Plume or Bloom as it is also refered to are small white dots and are actually crystals of precipitated oil from the wrapper. Below is a link to a good explanation with photographs.
With all respect Steve, it looks nothing like plume. And wiping plume off would be a crime.
HUH?????
Just wipe it off - it's not as if the problem is widespread. And either smoke them all quickly just to rid yourself of them, or better yet...use them to light your "better" cigars. They're Quinero Bros. and it's not like they're Cohiba or anything.
Definitely keep an eye on your humidity levels and invest in a good gauge. Try to keep things BELOW 70% rh...ideally around 65%. You won't have a problem with mold, and your cigars will smoke and taste better.

That's correct. It is clearly mold. White mold can ususally be brushed off and the cigar smoked without ill effects. Mold in the foot of the cigar is something that would worry me. I would try clipping a bit off the foot to see if the mold has grown into the filler. If so, I would pitch the cigar.

That's ridiculous. In my opinion/experience plume neither adds nor detracts from the taste of a cigar.
That is definitely mold, no doubt about it. I had a similar problem with some Ashton VSG's. I found a box of VSG rounds at my b&m ( what a score! ) about a year ago and they were filled with white mold. I just brushed it all off and smoked them, In fact i still have like 8 left and the mold has not grown back since.

I'm pretty certain that's mold. To the best of my knowledge plume doesn't manifest all patchy like that, should be like the pics Vision showed. Patchy white stuff is mold.
