I havent cared for the BBF since the 2001 production

I agree with you. They have lost their strength and earthiness. The recent production haven't been bad...they're nice, medium-bodied, fairly complex smokes...they just don't taste like BBF's...more like BRC's or BCG's.

I'd describe them as all hype and hot air. very misleading. Everytime i thought it was going to take off it just stalled.

Belicoso Fino's are always in favor! My 2001 BBF's ROCK. My latest box form FEB06 aren't bad either. I'd have to agree that they're less earthy and more towards medium in body, but they still have that trademark Bolivar flavor.

I just received a cab from 2003...I'll have to post tasting notes in a week or so once they settle in.

I think that the BBF's I get to smoke from time to time have been superb. Seems like the problem might be with an old and tainted palatte - maybe freshen the ol' dentures! Or maybe it has something to do with remnants of Ticonderoga's that seem to be floating around.

I don't know "James", I'd be willing to bet that they'd be so good that whomever bought the entire contents of your aristocrat not only would claim to be shorted 6 sticks and keep them, but I'd also bet additional money that the deliverer would swipe 3 of the 6 and keep them for himself as well.

They're THAT good.

I'm going through a box right now that was made in 2006, and they are great, nice burn, dark ash, great taste.

I think what we have here is a huge misunderstanding when it comes to the BBF. It's a shame that so many people can take one bad revue, from a competitor non the less, and just stop buying a terrific cigar that always gives much more than its value.

BBF's ROCK! Might even make them the unofficial cigar of ICC!

The last box I bought was lackluster...I think the box code on it was 2003? I just can't bring myself to order them when I know the RC and PC are usually better sticks.

I have to agree with OVN 100%.

There are people who've turned their backs on the BBF's simply because someone else had a problem with them. Rather than think for themselves and give the BBF a try, they simply attempt to discredit the BBF for no good reason other than someone told them to. That's a shame, because the BBF's continue to deliver time after time. The BBF has never failed to disappoint anyone who is willing to give the BBF a try.

The reality is the BBF ROCKS. The BBF never let anyone down, or robbed pleasure form anyone, and to this day the BBF continues to be a great cigar.

Thanks for bringing them to my attention.
I have been invited to wild game dinner this evening and I think it will a perfect choice for a full bodied after feast cigar.
The last one I had this past summer from the same box, Mar 02, was simply outstanding.

Kechke, that's interesting, a trusted vendor has MAR02's in cabinets. Are yours SBN or SLB?

I think that the BBF just need time to come into their own and emerge from the darkness. They're OK.

They are not the cigar of old. BBF before 1999 were a different animal than now. Now...they're just chopped up Monte 2's.

My mar 02 cab is an SLB purchased at 63rd St LCDH Varadero, also a trusted vendor.

interesting. taste is subjective, and shouldn't be simply written off by those who don't agree with the review. personally, it pisses me off when others do that.

in my opinion, i thought the ligero made the bbf what it was back then, or at least gave it the strength many thought it had.

I think the new production is back on track but they are not as powerful as those from 1995 back. I had a 1958 a few months back and it was superb. Let's hope the new ones age as well.
