OK. Am I the only person in the world that isn't impressed by this smoke?

It was nice. Decent flavor. Nothing I'd go out of my way for. I much preferred the RASS and PSD4. I thought the BRC had better flavor than this.

Perhaps the cigar was a little too mild. It did have a liitle "green" or "grassy" taste so perhaps some more time? I guess that's my answer on all cubans I'm not floored by. Razz

I have one left. I'll bury it in the bottom of the humi and hopefully find it in a couple of years. I'll try it again then. I wasn't impressed with the Monte Edmundo either and that received pretty good reviews as well.

I have a couple Monte Edicion Limitadas 2006. Maybe I'll enjoy those more.

Like people have been saying, its all personal taste and person preference. Personally Monte No.2 is my favorite CC so far. I'm pretty sure it's a medium to full bodied smoke. Maybe you just don't like the Montecristo's blends. I say if you don't like it don't smoke them, smoke what you like.

I've had some fantastic No.2's. But of the Montes I've smoked more recently, it's 4th.

1. Petit Edmundo
2. Edmundo
3. No.4
4. No.2

I've never heard MC2'2 desrcribed as grassy. Are you sure of it's authenticity.
They have had inconsistanty issues for a couple of years but lately I hear they have solved the problems.
I have found that when they are on, they are simply outstanding.

I just purchased a second box. IMO these have been really good, and lately has been my go-to smoke. But I agree, not heard it described as grassy, but everyone's palate is different.

FINALLY! The right questions being answered. Problem is, people come on here with horror stories about how lackluster their cigars are, and then others chime in with similar conclusions. They don't know WHAT they're smoking, but there is apparently some knowledge in numbers. Draw and other construction problem? Let it sit in lower humidity. Use a draw poker. The cigars from the Cohibba factory are notorious for such problems. The benefit of the doubt is, UNFORTUNATELY, unwarranted.

First question: PEDIGREE. Even if it has the right bands, stamps and seals, problems should not be widespread, and the adjectives should not be descriptive of some gut-rot cigarette.

Nah...never mind. Cuban cigars suck. Save your money, everyone...get a different hobby.

i am just hoping that its the current crop out in stock right now that is bunk. i was totally dissppointed in my Monte #2. It is however my current #4, but after reading all the hype and such, it lead me to be dissappointed because i was expecting something fabulous, distinct and unique. The flavors were great, the draw SUCKED on 3 out of the 4 i have had thus far, but so far, as u see on my sig., i have had better ones.

I will let the rest of stock sit and age till about X-mas time and THEN hopefully, they will live up to the hype.

The Monty 2 is a nice smoke, I prefer the Diplo #2, and the VR Unicos more.

Could be fake, could be young, could be you don't like the flavor profile.

I don't particularly care for them.

I couldn't be sure of the authenticity because I found these Wink

The person that purchased them did buy them during a 30% discount on singles. From my understanding, these are legit.

I'm new to this side, so I appreciate the kid gloves I know many of you are using. As to whether these are recent or older, I couldn't tell either as they were acquired as singles so the box code is unknown.

I'll let the other sit for a while and see how it does.

Thanks for the responses. I equated these to the Padron 1926. I couldn't imagine anyone saying those weren't good.

What's the "Padron 1926" on this side?

My box of MC2's were inconsistent. They all had a very consistent taste (very good), but i'd say about 10 of them smoked poorly. But i'm goin to have to blame that one on myself for not keeping an eye on my humidor. For a while there they were the only ones in there, and humidity was never consistent due to my inability to take care of them. Devastating. So, consistency wise, inconclusive for me.

I have said this before but basically it really boils down to your personal choice, like how many other members have said. Tough draw isn't a huge turn off for me because it is fixable, to me cigar is all about taste and aroma, all the others are not that influential. I happen to prefer the earthy, spice, coffee/cocoa tones of a Monte no.2. That doen't mean everyone does, for example, Fedor Skywalker who liked the dominican Monte no.2 happens to prefer Diplomaticos No.2 and that isn't surprising to me. The Dominican monte and the Cuban Monte has a totally different flavor profile. While the dominicans have a similar profile to Diplomaticos no.2 in that they both have more of the cedary, creamy, floral character.

I am with you on THAT. The Petite Edmundo is the greatest. What a cigar!

I totally took Sal's advice on the Diplo #2, and unless something miraculously happens to my Monte #2 while they sit in my humi, that Diplo spot on my top 5 isnt going anywhere anytime soon.

Thanks Sal for the recommendation. Those H. Upmanns No 2s are starting to please my palate a lot as well as they have sat for a bit.

I think once i got accustomed to the CC aromas and flavors, there is no turning back. I am in fact smoking a Monte #2, Dominican, at work today. The burn is splendid, the draw is PERFECTO, but sorry, extensionchord was right, the Dom. Monte #2 isnt all i thought it was. Its a great smoke, but the Cuban Monte #2 flavors, even with the poor draw, blow it away. IMHO at least.

BTW:
That Vegas R. Unicos is a very close #2. That honey/caramel flavors i got, mixed with the spice notes, along with the draw & burn have made it something special for me and a definite "I HAVE TO ORDER MORE OF THOSE" type of cigar. I have yet to get brave and burn those Bolivar Belicosos that have been sitting awhile as well. i will probably wait till X-mas to try those. i only have 2, so i think they need to age a couple of months at a minimum.
