Here's my favorites of the decade

Cohiba siglo VI
Partagas series d 4
Cohiba esplendido
ScDH el principe
Monte Edmundo

I know alot of people do not enjoy the edmundo but to me it is an excellent cigar in just about the perfect size.

Go Steelers!!!

Hello Elaw;
Thank you for your post in this topic. For me it was the most useful, well thought and informative, your opinion well substantiated as opposed to just a lists of somebody's favourites which are just that: useless lists.

I am glad to see you do not let yourself being bullied by this forum gurus trying to ridicule you.

So I woke up this morning thinkind about my Dad, and that fabulous Cohiba (A), its good to have a good memory, that involves a perfect cigar.

Aphexafx,
Its not because of the band lol.. you know that Cohiba is a phenominal cigar. Esplen, CoRo, and especially the Lancero. The Lancero is in a category of its own. One of the creamiest smokes you can find, great aromas, and also has loads, and loads of smoke. great list man.

Wow Janusz, your posts scare me(for Elaw).. its getting weird.

Let me also add Elaw:
Having smoked everything Cuba ever exported after 1980 I'd like to confirm that your choices are outstanding cigars indeed, at least IMO.

I am sorry guys. I don't have much reasoning behind what cigars I like or dislike. When I smoke a cigar, I don't have much analysis running in my mind.
Like my first cigar, I smoked a cohiba robusto and it got me hooked. I have no vocabularies, no nutty, silky, creamy, roasted, toasted, coffee or whatever that is, but I know I like it. That is just me and all I that I care about. Wink
Maybe I can tell you why I can't position them.
When i smoke, the enviroment and my mood both attributes to the cigar. Therefore, I can't list out the positions. It won't be fair.

You are right. It doesnt matter how or why, the reason you like a specific cigar is up to you, and no one else. Like or dislike, Sometimes I like a cigar, and I cant quite figure out why.. each person is different, and you sure as hell dont need to give an explanation on why you enjoy the cigar of your choice. Case Closed

lol ok you got me. It isn't the damn band. Big Grin I love Cohiba and while I love to smoke an Esplendido, nothing excites me more than a Lancero. Period.

I'm smoking a VR Famoso that is brilliant, best one I've had yet. And I am looking forward to the small clutch of PL Petite Coronas that I managed to get my friend in Olympia to send over, per your recommendation, sir. He swears by them, I will add. They are new to me and I'm excited.

Did you get me email I sent back, ccsiglo?

Cheers!

Taste is subjective.
Calling for "the best" instead of "your favorite" does not change that. (I am not likely to say, "Well, that was the best cigar of the last five years but I didn't really like it.")

Cigars change with time. Palates develop with time (hopefully). One's favorite cigars, quite likely, change over time.

Because a descriptive paragraph is not included with a list of cigars does not mean that no thought went into compiling the list. Some of us are better at, and more inclined to write descriptive paragraphs than others.

Anytime a list thread appears, it usually ends up with a huge variety of items on it. A name-your-favorite-robusto list will end up having on it just about every robusto. That's because taste is subjective.

Even with all that, I like lists like this one. Thanks for getting it started AWOA. It's interesting -- and sometimes amusing -- to see what folks put on their list. It's interesting to see what cigars repeat from list to list and to see where a particular cigar appears on lists. Often, I find myself thinking, "Ahh, I forgot about that one. Haven't smoked one in a while."

Just my 2 4 cents worth.

Jan lighten up. I was just teasing Elaw in a good natured way.

And by the way this does not excuse you from this writing assignment either, as we all expect to see your top 5 cigar list with a detailed explanation of each cigar by 12 noon today.

I personally don't care what anyone writes on their list. I'm sorry I have miss construde the topic here. I thought this was a top five of the decade, when in the title thread, it was clearly stated a, "what are your favorite 5". Sorry. It is rather ironic that people would spend more time writting rebuttals to posting opinions, than they spend writting the opinions themselves. I don't think anyone has to explain themselves at all, but If you don't know why you like something and can't expound on it, maybe you should take a look at what it is you really like about it.

It was a partly cloudy day, it had rained that morning, when I saw it, my eyes lit up, and I instantly new this was gonna be a cigar to be reckoned with. So we went back to the hotel. Me and My Dad each smoked 1, and it was just the absolute best cigar I have evr had.. think Cohiba Sublime.. times 10.. if I could say anything else I would. I love that cigar, and every time I smoke one, I always think of Dad. One day, we will be smoking Cohiba (A)s together again.

Post some picks of the Cohiba humidor when you have a chance, as I would love to see this humidor and the cigars.

I will post the pics, If I have time between my rebuttals. I really have to take a good hard look at what it is about each cigar on my top 5 list, that makes it so special. If I cant expound on it, I guess I am just a below average human being. Could I possibly get an extension on this? I have just been so bogged down lately, ugh..

I will gladly post those pics..
