whats the deal - do we have to worry about folks on this forum? is it possible US feds are fishing for sources or lawbreakers? what were the problems that led to the current policy regarding sources?

It's common sense, too many orders from one source will arouse suspicion and lead to packages being confiscated. The rule is no discussion of sources, don't ask why, just follow the rule.

No it wasn't. Sources were posted here at one point long after the embargo existed. There were problems that caused the policy to go into effect. sheesh...
so there's no chance the feds are lurking or working under cover here? hopefully they have better things to do.

Sorry for my smartassery, I figured the problem was obvious. Sources got too popular and U.S. Customs wised up; they noticed that every time they opened a package that contained contraband, it was from certain places/companies, so they flagged them and seized everything from them, and these sources nearly went bankrupt and thereafter every customer was sent a letter and/or fined. There may be agents on this board, sure. There may be some suits assigned to work under cover here. But what's to fear? A bunch of guys talking about buying and smoking Cuban cigars aren't doing anything illegal, and nobody passes sources to anybody they don't know. Even when vadaaa did that, nothing happened to those sources, so if there are indeed agents that are assigned to browse this board, they're too busy watching porn instead.

I guess that's my point. You say something about some smokes you tried and you get 4 emails asking where you got them. Know what I mean? I'm just sayin...

It's not simply that there was a fear of agents frequenting the site...it's not as if we took a few liberties with our female guests - we did!
Instead, the concern is that this place is supposed to be for informed discussions on the subject matter unaffected by posers and those who peddle their wares; not for advertisements, price wars, arguments over the bona fides of an item; not for things like that. In addition, once sources are thrown around freely, there would be a run on your favorite source and the rare cigars you once were able to get all of a sudden weren't that available any more. Good for the vendor...bad for you.
Think of it like a prized parking space - your ace in the hole. You tell a few friends about it, fine. You go advertising about it, when you go to use it, the spot is filled.
Still further, of the people that post here, VERY few have a bona fide source - I dare say that most people aren't smoking what they think they're smoking, so why allow a bad source to get press from people who just don't know any better?
Finally - sure, there's a risk that federal agents will crash down your door because of what you put up here. But the more important reasons for the policy go far beyond that, and the posting of sources has NEVER been taken lightly here for the many reasons stated. The official policy came about as a result of the de facto policing by the more seasoned posters who have their reasons.

That"s funny, this song pop in my head when I first read this post. With most vendors selling cc for over a decade I hope the feds are"t snooping around in here trying to find out who is selling cc. to people in the states.
