St. Thomas is a U.S. territory, so he won't find any Cuban cigars there. Make sure he shops at the La Casa de Habano in Marigot on the French side of St. Martin. He's guaranteed to get authentic product there. He'd be taking a chance on getting fakes elsewhere.

You've already gotten the best advice. LCDH St. Martin will assure authenticity. I've bought there. No LCDH in Barbados. St. Thomas has cheap booze & ciggies, but no Cuban cigars.
For the LCDH in St. Maarten, make sure to tell him its on the French side and to get directions/street address from them. You can email them and they will provide a price list for boxes.
When I went there, our tour guide didn't know where the LCDH was and neither did the taxi stand near the street market. Its one block in from the marketplace. Then make a right and go down to the end of the block. 5-10 minute walk.
Great selection. She opened a fresh box of Partagas 2008 Salomones. Excellent smoke. She also has the Juan Lopez Caribe RE.
In addition to the Partagas Salomones 2008, which was an exceptional smoke, she also has the PSD #5 LE. I'll probably smoke that tomorrow night.
I walked out with: Partagas Salomones 2008 R&J 2007 LE - was OK R&J Short Churchill - very nice and smooth PSD #5 Esplendido Siglo IV Siglo VI Partagas Lusitania RASS
If you haven't had a Juan Lopez #2, Bolivar Belicoso Fina, Bolivar Royal Corona, RASS or PSD #4, I would strongly recommend them.
The Juan Lopez #2 is smoking exceptionally well right now. Its perhaps my favorite at the moment.

Nice list.
I'd get some of the newer EL and RE selections, then buy some of the recent production staples in your preferred marca and vitola. For me, that would be RASS, PSD4, Royal Coronas and Choix Supremes.
Then, look for some aged stuff, preferably 2002-2006.
gave him 120 he should know what to do but the weekly 50 is at the local shop it makes it really hard to limit myself to that much i feel like a kid in a candy store when i walk in im sure everyone here does

I am sorry Mr. Eagle, but I am finding it hard to figure out what you are trying to say. Could you restate it with some basic punctuation?
But, just to second Bassman, you have recieved the best advice you can get on the subject. Just hope that your buddy paid attention to the specifics about the shop.

No doubt. Three different people tried pushing me to this one shop on the corner. He had all kinds of gift as well as a walk in humidor. He promised they were all real. LOL
The other shop they sent me to actually was 80 degrees inside. The cigars had mold all over them.
I believe the name of the street the LCDH was on was rue de liberte. If he doesn't go with a map and the address, he WILL come back with $120 in fake cigars.
If your email is in your profile, perhaps I'll email you either a map or at least their email address.
From what I saw, you'd have a better chance getting real cubans if you googled Cuban cigar and ordered from there. That is unless he finds the LCDH
I didn't see an email in your profile. Below is a link to a street map of Marigot in St. Maarten. The tour bus dropped us in a parking lot where it says Parking in the upper left corner of the map. The lot was right off Blvd de France. The street signs were on the side of the building on the corners.
You need to walk over one block to Rue de la Liberte and then go down past where it says "Library" and "Post Office". The LCDH was just passed the Post Office. You'll notice the street ends at Rue de Pd. Kennedy. Its before that. I think it was right after Rue d'Anguille, but not 100%.
In all, about a 5-6 minute walk from the parking lot where I started which is right above "Market"
