If I were you, I'd make a huge deal about it. I'd call UPS, I'd call customs, and ask why...no...TELL them that...there's no way in hell you'd pay that duty. That's absolutely OUTRAGEOUS! NO ONE else has EVER had to pay anything for the importation of ANYTHING! And they expect you to pay the duty?? THE NERVE!

Most of the folks I deal with are clear that "customs fees" are the responsibility of the buyer. I've always gladly and promtly paid the <$7.00 fee. I buy from at least one sourse where I believe I have gotten no extra fee. What's a couple of pennies per cigar?
As I sit here typing on my laptop outside by the pool enjoying my Monte#2 after a stressful say at work my only concern is should I take a dip, or go up to the humi in my office and grab another smoke. $7.00 (extra) for a box of 25 Habanos...I feel blessed.

Consider yourself lucky that 1) your Habanos made it to you safely and 2) that you didn't get charged what our Canadian friends get charged in duties and taxes!
I don't mind at all paying the duty, it's the $5 gouge from UPS that concerns me. Still, not a large problem considering the enjoyment these packages bring.

You're paying the $5 for the use of their bonded warehouse without which, no cigars. It's only $5, chill out people.

I don't get charged anything extra ordering through my vendor. But I think that's because they use a private courier, not USPS... or else they roll fees into the price, which I would never know about if they did.

...seriously guys...lets stop all the guess work for customs. Just give them all the pertinent data they need and for all the world to see. This way they can just directly to your next order.

I used to get them all the time. I just don't pay them and noting ever happens, other than a few threatening letters. Now I don't even get the letters anymore, and the cigars keep getting delivered.
For once, it seems that the US is the easiest place to get Cubans. I had a couple of cabs shipped in to Switzerland with a declared value of about $60. The tax/duty/UPS broker fee for the pair came to about $160. Ouch... thankfully, they only charge me on about one box out of ten.
Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.
