Montecristo Open line of cigars are a mild range of stogies.

You are. This is just a roundabout way of getting the same answer.

Smart move on the edit. Try JL2 or RyJ Shorts for good mild/med robustos

Get some older PSD4s. After 18-24 months, they are pretty tame.

The Monte Open master is a fine cigar, but the HDM Epi#2 is better.

The ERDM CS and the R&J Ex. #4 are great hermosa #4, also excellent choices, though slightly smaller rg.

Cheers

"Cuban seed tobaccos grown in Nicaragua and Cuba. The wrapper would be from Cuba. The binder leaves would be from Nicaragua. For the ligero tobacco in the filler, he would use two types, one from Esteli and the other from Jalapa in Nicaragua. The other filler components, seco and viso, would come from Cuba, the former from Villa Clara, the latter from Pinar del Rio. That Cigar, he says with pride, would score 100 points."

The H. Upmann Connoisseur No. 1 technically belongs in the Hermoso vitola. But it's the best mild Habanos cigar IMHO and close in size to a Robusto.

These answers are amusing. Recommending a PSD4 to someone who, because they need to ask, we can assume has limited experience with Cuban cigars and as a consequence, likely isn't looking to buy a few cigars to leave on the shelf for a couple of years but rather will likely be looking for something to smoke now, would be akin to telling someone looking for a good dinner wine to buy OpusX and let it sit for a couple of years.

Come on, people - think! The SD4 is not exactly what anyone would think of as a "mild" cigar...

The Upmann Conn1 is a good one, as is the Upmann Epicure 2. But the El Rey del Mundo Choix Supreme is what would be the perfect fit...not too expensive, available, flavorful, and what would be described as a "finesse" cigar. I would avoid a PSD4 unless you're looking for a full-bodied, bold smoke.

Thanks ryj: But as I mentioned in my original post I already count ERDM Choix Suprême among my favorites.

And you are correct: I want something I can smoke right out of the box. I don't want to store sticks for aging.

I take this opportunity to thank everyone for their suggestions.

Correction...there is no such animal called a mild robusto as even the ERDM packs a punch.
