Varnished is a much stronger cigar...a lonsdale...I think the regular 898 is a CG...could be wrong about that though.

Yep the unvarnished is a long corona, about a half inch shorter and not the same blend, not nearly as good as the shiney boxed ones.IMO

The "varnished" is actually a "dalia" which is just a bit larger than a "lonsdale," and just a bit more slight than a "churchill" (or "julieta"). They're called an "8-9-8" for how they're presented...8 on the bottom, 9 in the middle, 8 on top. The "unvarnished" haven't been around for a long time.
