Now that's a mouthful, but a great book never the less. My wife surprised me with it, arriving in the mail today. Anyone else out there have this encyclopedia of Havana cigars?

It's basically a complete reference of all Cuban-made cigars, post-Revolution through 2002. It is very detailed and informative, with beautiful color images on each and every page. Check out this link for more info:

This is a fantastic book written with passion by a very dedicated collector.
I have heard that the new edition, due out before 2112, is expected to be 2x the size of the original 492 pages, this for a book that is already 9.5" x 12" x 1.5"
I bought a copy back in 2003 and have referred to it many, many, many times.
That said, nearly seven years later, the book is quite outdated. The author admits that most of his tasting notes pertain to cigars from 1996 and earler, so they are of limited value for guessing what more recent vintages are like.
The photos are excellent and the lists of cigars (with photos) within each line are comprehensive as of about January 2003.
I wouldn't trade away my copy; but I wouldn't pay the asking price for a new one -- particularly if it's true that an updated version is coming out in 2 or 3 years.

this book is worth more than the price of any box of CC's.i would go as far as to suggest that if you do not buy it you will regret the decision for the rest of your life,as a member poster earlier the book is a wishlist.on any CC forum you go to this book is called simply MRN everyone then knows your ref source. BUY IT now,you will never regret it.
further to my last post 20 or 30 years ago we had no references on CC's i just bought by word of mouth in UK and paid exorbitment prices due to UK taxes to experiment.i found i loved 3 brands by this Montecristo,Bolivar and Partagas,i had a lot of failures with H Upmann untill i found 2 wonderfull cigars of theirs the Sir Winston and Monarchs.it is only in the last 10 yrears i have discovered Hoya De Monterrey,St Luis Del Rey,Vegas Robaina and Juan Lopez.i know i have not mentioned the obvious Cohiba(i could not afford them at the time) and R&J the Churchhill was the only one worth smoking to me.likewise with Punch only the DC to me was wrth a light so to speak.anyway guys that is my 2 cents worth.
