I'd like to think I'm fairly knowledgable about CC's but one thing has always puzzled me and I have not seen much on it. Why are some Cohiba bands bright yellow and others a light to medium orange? I've seen them both ways on the old and the new style bands. Thanks.

I guess if the top of the box is not 100% clear - it can change the color appearance.

Can't say I've ever seen one that I would consider orange.

I have Cohiba bands going back 12 years and they appear to have changed from orange to gold in the last 5 years with the addition of the bright shiny gold embossing.

These two give a good example of what I mean although maybe the yellow is more like a light gold.

I noticed the different bands too when I bought a Cohiba sampler pack some years ago.

I questioned the supplier and he just said thats the old band and thats the new band.

Sometimes they use Plexi-glass instead of real glass. The Plexi as its called can yellow and fade over time.Changing the appearance of the bands.Removing the cigars from the box for viewing should correct this issue.

The Super Premium Cohiba Cristals come in Lexan topped boxes....I will only buys those....

Seriously, though the colour has changed. The band design has changed. I have even seen colour change in the new gold trim design over the last couple of years. The Cuban bands have always had a bit of variance in almost all brands. Colour offsetting was misprinted or misaligned, etc.....they seem to have gotten better lately, so I don't know if they have upgraded their printing presses (unlikely), taking more care and time or subbed it out offshore....

I agree with this band statement.

BTW the only way to tell if you have real Cuban Cohiba's, is to stand them on their end. Only truly balanced Cuban Cohibas will stand on their own. Fakes tend to be unbalanced and fall over.

what i do to check the authenticity of cohibas is, insert a sparkler into the foot end of the cigar, pull down my pants, stand on my head, insert the mouth end of the cigar into my arse and light the sparkler on fire. if the burnt ends of the sparkler burn my arse hair on the left side only, than i sir have 100% cuban coho! Big Grin

DAMN IT!!!! That means all of mine have been fakes since the hairs on the right side of my arse are the ones that got burned. Just wait until I tell my supplier!

All this discussion of the left side - right side reminded me of the old jock. Even though it is not related to this topic or to cigars, I'm going to share it with you...
An old maid is getting married and asking advice of her experienced married friends.
One of the questions she asks in what order to do the laundry. So the friend tells her - "I look in the morning to see on what side is my husband’s pecker. If it's pointing to the right I do the whites, if it points to the left - I do the colors". "And what if it's aroused and points up?" - asks the maid. The friend replies - "Are you crazy! Who's doing the laundry on the holiday?"
