I have been purchasing cuban cigars from a presumably reputable dealer recommended by one of the people on this forum. They have been very tasty cigars, but the cuban seal on the outside of the box is broken before I open the box. It has been obviously opened by somebody before me. Are they fake or is there another reason the seal is broken? For what it's worth, they ship from Hong Kong.
Almost any reputable dealer will open their boxes before they send them to you. The importer may do this as well. To be honest I have never received a box of Cuban cigars with an intact seal. Never.

I'm new to all this CC stuff and haven't nailed down a source yet, but I think if you say they smoke fine, and tast fine you should be OK, I've heard that some vendors open boxes to inspect the gars before they ship.

Does the half moon cut still apply to the cedar divider? I find alot of boxes from 04 have straight cuts.
Boliman, if you are ever in New York City I hope you will call on me as I'd love to meet you. I have never met anyone quite like you. You seem like one of a kind.

I concur with (most of) the previous statements on this thread.
The seals are almost always cut on my Cuban cigar boxes. Over the years, I have purchased several boxes from J&R Duty Free at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv (which has pretty good prices) and all of their boxes are cut to ensure the smokes are of adequate quality. And they are most certainly real.
Last month, I did buy some boxes from the Melia Cohiba Hotel in Havana and just grabbed a bunch of boxes with the seals uncut -- which was in retrospect a risk. I could have ended up with unripened cigars or cigars whose colour I did not care for. However, I suspect that the Hotel only gets the best because when I opened the boxes up on my return, they were all of the deepest chocolate colour.
So no worries. You want the seals broken to ensure that someone in the long chain from the factory in Havana to your home has inspected these cigars and deemed them suitable for sale.
I may have to report you. You were obviously using foul language which is not allowed. Please be as so kind as to delete your post, or Administration may have to do it for you.

Try some Trinidad Robusto Extra, than talk again Cuba still HAS the best tabacco of the world, and the cigar quality is going up constantly. I think they have learned out of the misery in the last few years; only cubans need a bit longer to do so
Here's the problem I have with the original post...the guy was generously and graciously given a source. Then in a public forum he questions the authenticity of said source. That is tantamount to a slap in the face. If I were the guy who was generous enough to give this ungrateful individual a source I'd be pretty freaking ticked. Especially since the source is being questioned over something so ridiculous as broken seals. It's the equivalent of a panhandler being given a dollar and then asking the person who gave it to them if it's counterfeit. It really is funny that this kind of stuff only happens here.
Let me be the first to say - Getz Nada. But, in retrospect, if there already is Nada here then all one will get is Nada, anyway. How 'bout Getz MORE Nada.
