I am looking for a small cuban smoke - something lasting 45 min to an hour (not much longer then that - I have my share of Churchills etc.). Not real strong - perhaps a "morning smoke". Any suggestions out there?
"they" say that the Partagas Short is the ticket. It has less of the pepper of the Partagas line and focuses heavily on the twang we all love. For a more rounded shortie, the San Cristobal El Principe has a bit more richness and complexity. The Bolivar Petit Corona cannot be beat. It has to be the best mareva. For a really cheapie, RyJ makes a vitola they call perfecto, a long-medium filler machine made that is all twang, but it is delicious when you sit there and think that you paid a little more than 2 dollars for it. You can find them with alot of age on them which makes a real difference. All of this is my opinion, but I know what I like, and I have alot of short ones.

robusto (Hoyo Epicure #2, Ramon Allones Specially Selected are a couple of nice ones); corona gorda (Punch Punch, Hoyo Epicure #1, Upmann Mag 46 are some nice ones). Those are both good for between 30 and 60 minutes, depending on how YOU smoke them. These cigars have ample girth to allow a more balanced blend of tobacco, will give you great flavor, and should fit the bill.

There are a number of Habanos that fit the description that you are looking for. My favorites with morning coffee are the Sancho Panza Non-Plus, the Rafael Gonzalez Petite Corona and as NoLa stated the San Cristobal El Principe. All three make excellent daytime cigars.
w; An oft overlooked vitola of the profile you are after is the Vegueros mareva. This is one of my staple everyday smokes. Rumour has it that this cigar has only one type of leaf missing in it's mix that separates it from Cohiba's.

Something I forgot to put onto my list that gets almost no mention anywhere is the Partagas Culebra. They are machine-made medium filler braided cigar that is GREAT. It lasts about as long as you need it to and burns great, tastes great and looks terrible. Almost anywhere you find them, they will have a few years of age on them. Cheap and delicious. Smoke them one at a time.

You said a mouthful with that one SM, this is an insideous little powerhouse and CALLS out for another one to go to it's ashy death. Not much on flavor variety, but what is there is DYNAMITE!

One more to add if you don't want something strong....and they're cheap....is the Fonseca Delicias. They have a good texture, easy draw, and smooth-mild flavor of citrus and floral.
Oh, did I mention they were cheap?

w, you start by contacting your vendor. My choice would be the Bolivar Corona Junior. About a 30 min. smoke, not too strong, great way to start the day, IMO.
