Last week I had the chance to meet Berta Corzo, an experience roller from El Laguito on a tour of the UK and Ireland.
Berta was rolling in Dublin's JJ Fox for a few days, and after having a beautiful fresh robusto on her first day, I decided to go back for more... I asked Berta if she could roll any vitola and she replied "most of them" in broken English. Culebra? - I asked her. She smiled, got her leaves and the results are on the video below...
I saw this video on another board. At the speed she rolls, no wonder Culebras were out of stock for several years. BTW, did you notice she inserted the stems in the bunch?

It actually took her about 20 minutes for the whole thing! They tend to be slower when rolling in cigar shops so they wont have 50 cigars sitting in front of them and noone to buy them. I couldn't imagine her working at that speed in El Laguito!
Didn't notice the stems, what I noticed though is that she didn't pack the filler too much, and after rolling each cigar she was checking their flexibility (you can see that after she applies the wrapper on the first cigar).
Just posting to say that this was a real treat to watch. Heartening to see we can get the great and the good from El Laguito to fly over here. Maybe one day we'll get our own Regional ... though the collapse of the breakfast roll economy here might militate against that in the short to mid-term

She was very pleasant indeed and her English is not too bad. I believe she will be around for another while, hopefully next time around she will make some nice lanceros!
