Smoked a San Christobal El Morro from aug01 and it was simply incredible. I feel this is one of the most underrated cigars coming out of cuba.

I'd agree. I smoked one in Havana, also an Aug 01, and it was fantastic. There are just so many outstanding DCs, and most people find DCs too time consuming or daunting. Personally, it only takes me about an hour at most to terminate a DC, and I find the complexity and balance of a double corona to be extraordinary and exactly what I'm looking for in a Cuban cigar. The El Morro? Thumbs Up!

Actually the El Morro is a Paco, not a Double Corona. Same ring gauge at 49, but a slightly shorter length at 7 1/4 vs. 7 5/8. And yes, it is a fantastic smoke. The rest of the San Cristobal line is also very good...particularly the La Fuerza.

How in the he11 do you smoke a DC in an hour? It takes me 2+, PCs last me an hour. . .

Don't they burn hot as hell? Don't you lose some taste and enjoyment while 'sucking them down'? Confused

I agree with SuperT -- you have to savor the cigar. An hour for a DC is awfully quick.

Maybe it's slightly more than an hour, but not much ...

Never burns hot, but I don't smoke it down to the nub either, about to the band or slightly short thereof.

I think it burns quicker for me because I really like to stoke it up, alot of smoke and aroma; really brings out the complexity in full view.

If it wasn't enjoyable, believe me, I wouldn't be doing it Wink

Everyone is different I guess.

so many cigars I want to try, but so little time (and my credit card has a part to do with it too Frown) I've heard good things about these. And yes, very underrated.

The El Morro is one of my favorite Cuban smokes. I finally got a box of these about a month ago after having a couple given to me by my source to try. After a short one month rest in a good humidor, I found it to be the most flavorful churchill size (I equate it to that) Cuban cigar I've smoked, even more so than the Partagas Deluxe that I love.
