I thought I would give an attempt at reviewing a Vegas Robania Don Alejandro, which I smoked tonight.
I purchased them just a few weeks ago so it didn't have a lot of time in my humidor. The wrapper was a beautiful milk chocolate brown color, with just a little bit of shine to it from the oils found in the leaf. The smell of the prelit cigar was great -- nice notes of cedar, chocolate, nutmeg.
When I lit the cigar, the first thing I noticed was how dark the ash was -- almost like the color of hematite. The draw was perfect the whole way through. The cigar had some nice nutmeg, chocolate, leather tones as well as just a little peppery spice to tantalize the tongue. The smoke was very cool, up until the last maybe two inches of the cigar when the tars began to accumulate a little.
The cigar drew and burned perfectly. It didn't need relit throughout the entire 90+ minutes it took to smoke. It was also a very powerful cigar - not one for the faint of heart. Nobody would confuse the Vegas Robania with, say, something like a Macanudo. I would rate it around a 92 and also note that it didn't have any of the ammonia or straw scents they had a few years ago when Vegas Robania first came out.
That's my review. Let me know what you think!
