The wife and I are heading to San Antonio, TX on May 5th. It's work for the wife and play time for me. I'll be bringing plenty of smokes but don't know where I'll be smoking them. So any help with course info. would be a help. Lets say we keep the price down below $100.00 a round or if it is a course that you think is worth the extra money. Thanks

There are some very nice courses in San Antonio. Two of them stick out in my mind above the rest.

The Bandit: in New Braunfels (close to SA) ranked in the top 10 public courses

LA Cantera: public course carved out of a limestone quarry. Very nice views

Try this website for some others:

Golf in S.A.

I played a fantastic course in San Antonio about 5 years ago, when RTDA was there. I believe it's called The Quarry, and it's located on the site of an old quarry. Breathtaking course, pretty tough from what I remember. Check it out.

According to the course web site it is a "Must Play" course. It does look beautiful from the pictures on their site. Thanks David for the heads up. I'll be bringing two new fairway woods with me to use....I can't wait Smile

Well David I just got back from San Antonio. I took your recomendation and played The Quarry. I was alone on the front 9 and got paired up with a couple of GI's on the back 9. One of the two was shipping out the very next day to Iraq, he is a medic. We had a great time. The Quarry is a nice course and I enjoyed a couple of smokes while I was there. I also played the Republic Golf Course, Cedar Creek, and twice at the Hyatt Regency Hill Golf Course. Yes, I had a great time at all.

Glad you had a good time out on the course, and I'm happy the Quarry was as I described.

You hit some good ones!
Last time I was there I played The Golf Club of Texas, on the west side of San Antonio. It was great and cheap. Maybe because it was over 100 that day. The best I've played other than the beforementioned ones is Canyon Springs. It is excellent.

Yes, we are very blessed with great golf courses here in San Antonio. Next time you visit, you also want to try the Olympia...another excellent course. My favorites are The Bandit in New Braunfels, Republic, Golf Club of Texas and the Olympia...not necessarily in that order.

However the best thing...golf year round...yahoo!!

Smoke 'em if you got 'em. Wink

New to this site and this happened to jump out at me since I live in San Antonio. I have to agree with you guys on the course selection. I love Canyon Springs myself and I just played Olympia Hills a few weeks back and had forgotten just how tough and unforgivable that course is.
