My first time ever. I decided to give it a try and boom, there it goes. I used the Taylor Made driver TSF gifted me, and it's amazing. Now life isn't all like heaven, most of the shots have a horrible slice, but some of them were straight, and very long, longest than any iron I had hit before.
It's a good start. I used to not be able to hit drivers at all, all my shots couldn't even touch the ball before. We are progressing!!!

Remember, C of C, let the club swing around you...don't "slide" through your swing. As you do, that moves your hands in front of the hitting area, and when that happens, the clubhead follows, but the face is wide open and that translates into that wicked slice. At the point of impact, the right hand should be coming over the left hand, so to speak...if your body is sliding forward, and the hands get in front of the ball, you're in trouble!
STICK WITH WHAT THE PRO SAYS! And have fun.

good advice I wish I could do it! I have been playing for years and still slide and slice if I dont pay attn or try to hit it too hard.

Then watch out for the "reverse pivot" when you corkscrew back on your rear foot so that you're sort of looking up and to the left. That's REALLY bad.
Firm up the left side completely and just let your hands come through and around. Keep your balance. As you follow through, your weight should be on the front foot, and you should be balanced and in control...big shoulder turn, not too much arms, and let the club do the work.
If all else fails...grip it, and hit it as hard as you *($%#@!-ing can.
