JMS2788,
I will tell you exactly how you got it. You went out there and played. You didn't overanalyze anything and you just let your natural ability play the game.
I play in a league and I took some time off at the beginning because I was playing the worst I have in a long time. I had a million things on my mind.
After a month off I went back and my wife said just go out there and have fun. Who cares if you play good or bad. I brought a few cigars had a few beers and it was wonderful.
It was actually the same course that made me want to quit the league over a month prior. 1st round I shot like a 110. I told you it was bad. I am a 24 handicap. This next time out I shot an 89.
If there was any practicing prior to the round, warming up. I may have made a few putts. This round also had like 2 ob penalties and 2 water penalties. It was all on 2 holes as well.
Its amazing how the mind when its stressed or relaxed can pay dividends on the game. I used to caddy and it seemed the more relaxed the people were the better they played.
One of my buddies is a scratch golfer and his nickname is "Dumba**). Ironically he is a slower thinking person (not dumb) and he is a great golfer. I tend to think it is his skill as well as the fact his mind chills out and doesn't overanalyze all the crap of the game and life.
I have not mentioned that I am an analyst. Therefore I overcomplicate many decisions because I analyze them to death.
Congrats on the great score.
Matt
