I have been demoing this club all week, and I see a huge improvement in my drive over my 12 year old Biggest Big Bertha driver. I am not only hitting them farther, but straighter too. I think I am going to have to buy te club.

Anyone else have experience with this driver? What are your thoughts?

Although I'm partial to my R7, I've heard these are great drivers. However, I did read somewhere that the FT-5 is nearly identical in terms of performance as the FT-3. You may be able to get the FT-3 cheaper. Just thought you may want to look into this. Hit 'em long & straight!

I just looked at it. You may be right. Personally, I think just switching from a neutral driver to a draw is what made the difference. Not the particular driver itself. I haven't seen any new ft3s out there, just preowned. It's been ordered already anyway, and I am fine with it.

I've been playing this driver for the past year and a half. I've got a 10 degree draw model with a 65g grafalloy blue shaft (stiff). My mis-hits are much better then with previous drivers I've played (which is the most important factor IMO). The ball seems like it just shoots off of the face faster with this club. I'd certainly recommend it.

Callaway is coming out with an FT-9 this fall I believe so that's why the FT-5's are now being discounted.

The demo club had a $429.00 price tag on it and I was going to buy it then. After the guy in the pro shop told me it will only be $299.00 I had to go for it.
I also know I could probably get it for even less at Golfsmith or online, but the pro at my club spent the time demoing clubs with me, picking out the right club for my swing, and fitting me, so I dont mind spending the extra dough.

Gasdoc, I'd get it off of the pro too. It's always good to maintain a good relationship with them. I think they're at $299 on tgw.com (are we allowed to discuss Callaway sources? Big Grin ) anyway, which is a good site.

I checked out tgw. Great deals on that site! I was probably better off not knowing about it. lol.

gasdoc,

I've been playing an FT-5 for 2 years now and I think it's an absolute cannon. I had the FT-3 prior to the 5 and found the 5 to be much more accurate on mishits. The FT-3 face is taller and bulbous but the FT-5's is more traditionally shaped. Get the right shaft in it and you'll be extremely pleased, expecially now that Callaway has reduced the price. I prefer the slightly open setup of the Tour version.

I got it! And I love it! Ive played 4 rounds with it so far and it has cut 3 strokes off my game. Those were probably 2nd shots I would have been hitting out of the woods when using my old driver. lol.
