Yup, it seems to be unanimous. Titleist. I play the NXT Tour most of the time. I find it's as long off the tee and as soft around the greens as the Pro V-1 but without the back spin especially with wedges. And it's about 1/2 the price. (so i can put the savings into my cigars) I do play the V-1 in tournaments.

TSF - Yes, I've actually "cut" a ProV1x - not quite as deep as a mower blade, but enough to affect the flight of the ball...and more than shaving the cover with grooves. Somewhere in between the two extremes.

I just received my copy of Golf Magazine Saturday and in this issue they did one of THE most comprehensive ball tests I've ever seen. The Titleist NXT Extreme (along with a Noodle Noodle+ model and Taylormade ball) is judged as the longest ball (hardly any spin). But for the combo of spin vs. length the Tour balls like the ProV1x are still the standard. It's a very interesting read if anyone gets the chance.
I have played the Titleist ProV1x for about 2 years now and find it to be a far superior ball to the ProV1. I will be trying the Bridgestone B330-S next month on a golf trip to see if it compares to the ProV1x. I'll post any updates for length, spin characteristics when I get back.
I just arrived home from Myrtle Beach SC for a 6-day golf trip. While there I played a new ball, to me at least, the Bridgestone B330 S. To say the least it reacts very similarly to the ProV1 X. The only difference is that wedges tend to tear the covers slightly. The ProV1 X has a superior cover to the B330S hands down. Although, the Brdigestone B330 S is less expensive, just as long, just as controllable around the greens, and slightly firmer putting. I think I may have found a replacement for at least part of the year, or playing non-competitive rounds.
Nike One Platinum Red, best ball for me hands down, longer then the ProV 1 or X, and just feels great around the greens
Come again? You know I don't speak Spanish. In English, please. What? You pooped in the refrigerator? And you ate the whole... wheel of cheese? How'd you do that? I'm not even mad, that's amazing.

On a nice day, with dry greens etc, a Callaway HX tour. I get a deal on them and at my level, they seem to feel better for me on mid and short iron shots than the Pro V1 or V1X. Probably a mental thing, but every little bit helps when you are as inconsistent as I am.
I could hit a rock off the tee and still have no real idea where it's going.
If its wet, I'll play a harder ball, usually an HX hot.
If it's a hole with lots of water? Whatever piece of crap I pull out of my water ball pocket.
