Golf ball technology has really come a long way...I'm curious what ball people play and why. I play Titleist NXT Tour balls because they are soft on contact and allow for the perfect amount of spin for my game. As with pro-v1s, they also have a great feel with the putter.

I play the Titleist Pro V1x. a) It's very long, b) when I miss with my driver or longer clubs it doesnt seem like it spins offline as much as other balls and c) it doesn't spin TOO much around the greens unlike the regular Pro V1. I've been playing it consistently for about 3 years now. Callaway's HX Tour 56 seems similar but not quite as long after toying with it.

I have three in rotation: Maxfli Noodle, Titleist Pro V1x, and Titleist Pro V1. They each have a really soft feel, while at the same time giving me good spin control.

My primary course in not very forgiving and it doesn't take much of a miss left or right to lose your ball. Therefore, as much as I love ProV it's just not practical to play everyday. In the summer NXT Tours are great, in the winter, I prefer the Noodle.

I play Titleist DTSoLos. They don't spin too, too much on off hits, they're nice and soft for the wedges, and they're not prohibitively expensive so I don't cry when I hit one into the woods.

Yeah, I like the Pro V1 and V1x as well.

I'm playing Nike Juice right now. I got some trial packs at the end of last year and they went pretty straight for me, so I just stuck with them. I'm probably not consistent enough to tell a difference, but the confidence it inspires is enough for me.

I usually play Titleist NXT Tour for an evryday round and then switch to ProV1's for more serious rounds. The biggest difference I've noticed is that the Pro V1 spins much more around the greens.

Pro V1 even though my handicap doesn't deserve them. Like how they work around and on the greens. Precept or Maxfli when I'm looking to spend less money.

Ive been playing with Nike Black, Patinum lately. I like them so far, but at this point in my game I dont think it matters too much which ball I'm hitting.

Callaway HX Tour...because I still have about 12 dozen that Callaway sent me when I worked in the golf business.

The ball I play all depends upon the course conditions. If its hard and fast, I'll use a softer, high spin ball like the HX Tour or the Pro V1. If its wet and soft, I'll play a low spin, hard ball...HX Hot or Big Bertha ball from Callaway or NXT from Titleist. Now, if its like a sponge and the ball plugs everytime you hit a shot...nothing wrong with playing a Top Flite or Pinnacle.

I'm currently playing ProV1x. These are great balls...even though everyone and their mom is playing these balls...there's a reason why. They're great from tee to green. I agree that they don't have a spin rate off the tee which keeps them from going left/right...but with short irons, I can make them dance like a monkey on crack.

Be forewarned though: the mid compression and soft cover on these balls are not geared toward beginner golfers. I cut the cover on more of these balls than I lose to the woods or water. I tend to pinch down on my irons fairly heavy (see the 8 inch long divot 15yds down the fairway?) and the soft covers really spins but tend to get cut. Also, the medium compression (as compared to Noodle, SoLo's, or NXT's) may cause golfers with slower swing speeds to lose distance.

I've been playing Noodle's b/c I got a box as a present, pretty decent balls--but before that I was playing "Loco's" b/c they are cheap, so I can lose them--and they actually have some great distance in them

Titleist NXT, nike, noodles. Plus I have a friend that lives on a course and used to buy from him for 3 bucks a dozen. They usually paid for themselves. I always have a couple nice range balls for water holes on unforgiving courses.

Gutta Percha, because the game just isn't hard enough with today's balls.

SSS,
What do you mean by "cut"? Are you referring to the grooves "shaving" the outer layer? or are you referring to the balata style "smile" cut through the outer layer? I have never seen a "cut" ProV unless it fell victim to a mower blade. I presume you are not swinging mower blades for irons. Big Grin

NICE...the rest of us are looking at a $45 price tag to get our hands on a dozen pro-vs...Good for you to get them free! You couldn't ask for a better free ball to play!!!
