Seems like many golfers change putters frequently. To me, that is silly. You are better off working with the same putter over a number of rounds, getting used to its alignment, shape, bounce, etc.

I contend that most guys suck at putting because they don't use the same putter long enough to understand it and thus use it well. I play my worst golf when I have to use a putter that is foreign to me.

I agree with you, yet I know a lot of folks who are constantly changing because they find some momentary magic with their new wand. The magic slowly diminishes and they are off to find the newest, best, hot putter.

I agree,it's a waste of time and $$. I've probably changed putters 50 times including 14 different Scotty Camerons. I still can't putt.

I was at Kapalua back in 1994 or so, and was waiting to tee off at the Plantation Course (in nasty Kona winds, so all the holes that were designed to play WITH the wind were playing against it, making the course even tougher than it normally is...with some rain, of course), and noticed this one putter in the rack at the clubhouse. It looked like an old Ping Anser, but it was new, made by a custom clubmaker who inscribed his name on the hosel...it was $250 or so. The clubmaker was Scotty Cameron, and it was one of the first that was made available to the public BEFORE he signed with Titleist. The thing has to be worth oogles of money now. I was going to buy it, even at that price, at the end of the round, but when I came back, someone else had nabbed it.

Remember...it's not the putter...it's the putter.

My boss was going to a company sales tournament in New York and the airline lost his golf bag. He didn't have any clubs so when he showed up for the tournament the club let him use a demo set. He borrowed shoes from another guy. The tournaments guest pro was Fuzzy Zoeler. He had a few putters with him and let him use one. It was a handmade Scotty Cameron before he signed on with Titleist. He ended up telling him to keep it. The putter goes for about $1800 and only given to tour pros. Who says losing baggage is always a bad thing. He ended up getting his clubs and luggage that day after golf. Lucky guy.

Wow. I guess that, if he could afford to play in a tournament like that, the $1800 one of those costs would be no sweat!! LOL!

I still regret not pulling the trigger on that one when I was in the clubhouse. Oh well.

I have a Dale Anser I used for a while but put away in favor of a Never Compromise that I've used since about 1997. Now...sand wedges...that's a different story. I have dozens I've collected over the years, but have used one and only one for a long time...one of the original Ernie Vadersen Snake Eyes. I had a client who was a Nevada Bob's franchisee, and he would always send me clubs...irons, drivers, putters, wedges...I think it's time for ebay!
