Wasn't that just great viewing? It was an extra bonus for me that a Dubliner won. I don't think it would have mattered where the leaders were from, it's the first time in a long time that I have literally been on the edge of my seat watching golf.

Ya i agree.They should play the Open there every year.That will never happen.But hey every 8-10 years the ghost of Vand de Velde will rise up from those Burms.Great Theater.

Scary indeed. I was very impressed at Harrington's nerve to get up and down for his six after going in the burn twice. Still, if Sergio had made his par for the win, it think it would have always haunted him, to the point of affecting his career.

By the way, that is a public course. Anyone can play. I think green fees are about £130. For me that's about £1.00 a stroke, not bad.

Most of the British Open courses are open to the public, at least the ones in Scotland. £130 is $260, and doesn't include a caddie. The Clubs are private, but that does not include the course. The trick is getting a tee time.
In the states, the only US Open courses open to the public are Pebble Beach, Pinehurst, Bethpage, and Torrey Pines. PGA has been played on Whistling Straights and will be on Ocean. All you need is money. All but the munis (Bethpage and Torrey Pines) will cost you $300-400 to play as a walk on.
