I own the Cleveland CG 11 series wedges (52, 56, & 60) and love them!!! They are forgiving yet have great feel and accuracy. I've also found them to be easier in terms of putting a little extra spin on the ball. These wedges are AWESOME.

Cleveland's are the best!

Other people will buy Titleist or another hot brand because they spend more on advertising and players, but none can compare to Clevelands design and feel.

If you're just taking up golf, by some cheapies and use the rest of the money for lessons and range balls.

Too many players have nice clubs but no swing!

I don't want cheapies, though. I was going to take up golf lessons anyway. I heard getting decent golf clubs will help in the game.

You'll impress people more with a good swing than with good clubs. Just make sure you don't spend all your money on name brand clubs and not take lessons or practice for a good period of time.

Good luck with the clubs purchase!

Thanks.

I will take some lessons from a PGA instructor. THey are all over the place here. I need good fundamentals. I will get 1/2 way decent clubs and then go from there.

Thanks!

Has anyone everheard of a fiberglass set up clubs called: Wonder Club? My grandfather gave me this set when I was about 12 and he had had them for a number of years prior. If I had to guess, I would say they were atleast 40 years old. I now shoot with Ping irons, Adams tight lies fairway woods and a Big Bertha driver.

If I remeber correctly those came out when they were still experimenting with graphite clubs. Same principal but there was a lot of twisting in the head and shaft and it wasn't consistent.

I'm playing with Nike CPR Irons, calloway fairway woods / wedges (sand and pitching) and a Nike CPR Hybrid club (22 degrees). I have a calloway driver that I hardly use because can't seem to hit it that well. I get as much distance (if not, more) using my 3 wood than I do my driver.

Now that I have time to go play golf, I may go get fitted for a driver as it's the same one that I got in a starter set (with the woods) for $200.

Calloway Fusion Driver
Titleist Wedges

The irons are awersome when you hit them right. Like a hot knife through butter. But when you miss....ouch.
I like the driver too, I notice a lot less spin and the distance isn't bad either.
The wedges are awesome. Nothing like digging into the soil and picking up a nice piece of sod!

What is everyone handicap or thereabout?

I am currently a 1 handicap at home or a GHIN handicap of 0.7... although I do not believe wholly in the handicap system... i.e throwing out posted scores that are higher than usual.
