If you're playing outside the US and distances are given in meters, a quick way of converting to yards without too much math is to add the first 2 digits to the distance. For example 400m = 400 + 40 = 440 yards. 160m = 160 + 16 = 176 yards. It's not exact but very close.
The difference can be a club length.

I believe a simplier way is to just add 10%

It's really very similar but the above method saves you having to add 16.7 to 167. I know people who would be put off having to do that on a golf course, my mother in law being one example.
