The other day the wife and I were out messing around late in the evening and we usually hit a dozen or so pitch shots to the green and then putt. The longest putt was at least 50', up a steep slope then 4' of break to the cup. Plus, it had to go thru a couple of balls only inches apart and around another at the top of the hill. I strolled up to it, declared I would make it, and she said "No way, I'll give you a BJ if you make that."

You guessed it... DRAINED it, then hurried on home!!!

Hahaha!
Did you get your BJ?

One of the remarkable putts in my life was one about 60 feet away. My 2nd shot was in the green side bunker and the pin was placed very close to the bunker so I had to take a very short shot to get it within possible putting distance from the pin. This of course did not happen and I ended up shooting the ball from the bunker all the way to the other side of the green 60 or so feet away.

Of course I went to the putt, just hoping I can bring it within a few feets so I will get at least a bogey. I just stood to it, took my aim and shot. You can't even imagine the magical moments as it rolled uphill, took the break rolled down, made another break and was quickly approaching the pin. My caddy was like "it's getting in, it's getting in!" and I just couldn't believe my eyes as it sank in.

Best par save of my life.

Great story. One of those you can tell over and over again on the course :-)

I really don't like people who make putts but especially those who make putts AND win a BJ for doing so...LOL...

Hokie,

We'd make a good scramble team. My game is all pitch and putt. I hack and whack and get it close to the green, then hopefully up and down!

Every time the driver comes out, I make sure my checkbook is handy to pay for damages!!

Speaking of scrambles, I live for those. I play to a 5-6 handicap for 12-14 holes most of the time, and have a couple disaster holes on my card that make my index a 14. I routinely hit 300 yard tee shots and when I'm in a scramble and can really let it all hang out, I've pounded tee shots 325+. With my index, I'm usually playing as a "C" player, but I putt the ball pretty decent, which is really what the scramble is all about.

That is one of the reasons why I don't like to play in scrambles...every team can more or less reach the green in the same number of strokes and its all a putting contest. They need to skip the "playing" part and just have a putt-putt contest on the practice green instead...

Putt of my Life!

Don't get me started on this...I hate putting! Missed a couple from 10' the other day. My friend missed a 5 footer which made me feel a little better, it went just too high and bounced out. Can't tell you how many times I have the best drive and end with the worst score on a hole. Yeah yeah drive for show, put for dough. I practice putting every friggin' day in my living room.

We may putt for dough, but in my experience, you don't get a chance unless you can keep the freakin' drive in play. I can't tell you how many times I've taken myself out of a hole before getting off the tee. Hit your third shot from the tee and there's no dough to be had.
